Most people don’t realize how difficult it can be to get off a prescribed SSRI. This article is an interesting read. Or you can listen to it.
Kennedy Starts a Push to Help Americans Quit Antidepressants (Gift Article) The health secretary has long complained that Americans overuse psychiatric medications. New policies he is introducing aim to change that.

The next frontier in medicine isn’t another drug.
It’s a radical shift in how we view the body, the brain, and disease itself.
Depression is often rooted in systemic inflammation, gut dysbiosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, trauma, or disrupted circadian rhythms. ADHD may be tied to neuroinflammation, poor blood sugar control, or nutritional gaps like low magnesium, zinc, or omega-3s. And heart disease? It’s largely a food-borne illness, driven by a diet of ultra-processed, inflammatory, nutrient-poor calories.
There is no single root cause. But there are root causes.
And they are almost always connected by lifestyle, environment, and systems-level dysfunction.
Medications have their place… But they were never designed to reverse chronic disease. They manage symptoms, often while the underlying dysfunction worsens.
If we want to reverse the chronic disease epidemic, mental and physical, we need to stop asking what drug treats this and start asking why the body lost balance in the first place.
The answer is in how we eat, move, sleep, connect, and live. It’s in our soil, our food system, our communities, our kitchens.
The next revolution in medicine will come not from the lab but from returning to the root.

The Sentence No One Questions: “You’ll Be On This For Life”. Read that again slowly... Then ask why.
“You’ll need to take this for the rest of your life.”
That sentence is so common… most people don’t even hear it anymore.
It sounds responsible.
It sounds medical.
It sounds like care.
But step back for just a moment.
If something truly fixed the problem…
why would you need it forever?
We don’t say that about antibiotics.
We don’t say that about a broken bone.
Those things resolve.
But when it comes to metabolic health… energy… weight… blood sugar… inflammation…
The conversation quietly shifts.
From solving
to managing.
From reversing
to maintaining.
From freedom
to lifetime compliance.
And here’s where it gets uncomfortable.
Many of the conditions people are medicated for today are deeply tied to what’s happening on the end of a fork.
Ultra-processed food.
Refined carbohydrates.
Sugar layered on sugar… under a hundred different names.
Not as a treat.
As a daily foundation.
So the system builds around that reality.
Keep eating the same way.
Take this to offset the damage.
Repeat… indefinitely.
But what if the lever isn’t the pill?
What if the lever is upstream?
When people remove sugar and processed flour… even for a short window…
Something interesting happens.
The noise quiets.
The cravings back off.
The inflammation begins to settle.
Energy stabilizes in a way they haven’t felt in years.
Not because something was added.
Because something was removed.
That’s not anti-medicine.
That’s pro-awareness.
Because a lifetime prescription should at least invite one honest question:
Is this the only path… or just the most common one?
