d to help my hair start growing and retaining length again. I know that healthy hair starts at the scalp, and the one thing that has always helped my scalp health has been oil. As a child I would come to my mom once a week and get a relaxing hot oil massage which not only felt nice, but, according to Ayurveda, helped to stimulate blood flow in the scalp and encourage hair growth. While I trust many Ayurvedic practices, I didn't think it was enough to just use any oil, so I looked into different ingredients and oils to determine whether any of them in particular would help with hair growth. While many different brands claim that their oils and ingredients promote hair growth, very few have scientific research supporting those claims. After extensive research, the only oil I found with some concrete support behind its benefits for hair growth was rosemary oil (Articles/Studies on the Efficacy of Rosemary Oil: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25842469/; https://doi.org/10.1533/9780857095671.452). Rosemary oil was actually found to be as effective as Minoxidil (which is used in Rogaine to stimulate hair growth). I started to incorporate it into my routine using over the counter oils I would find at target, on amazon, or in beauty supply stores, but I did not like that they used rosemary essential oil instead of fresh rosemary giving the oils an unpleasant scent. I also did not like that they all contained extra ingredients that not only served no purpose and could irritate my scalp easily but also that could create more build up on my hair, clog my hair follicles, and further stunt my hair growth. I decided that the best course would be to make my own little concoction and thus Thoof Oil was born. I spent a lot of time experimenting with different oils and different methods of infusing those oils with rosemary before settling on the current method and deciding to add rose petals for their anti-inflammatory properties and other benefits. After I started using Thoof Oil I immediately saw amazing results and noticed hair growth within the first month of use. Within 6 months, I saw that my hair had retained almost 4 full inches of growth and that it was looking fuller and healthier than ever before. I also noticed reduced breakage, less hair loss/shedding, and my scalp barely ever felt dry and itchy. While I was speaking with my mom about how many people suffer from hair loss, especially with Covid-19 and Telogen Effluvium (TE), I realize how many other people could benefit from my product, and I decided that I wanted to share it with the world to hopefully help others in their hair growth/health journey. Thoof (pronounced th-oo-f) is the Punjabi word for incense. As a child I remember my mother lighting rose scented thoof in our home while praying, and to this day the scent brings me beautiful memories and joy. Thoof was my inspiration behind incorporating rose into this oil for all of its benefits and its floral scent, hence the name for this product. Chamki (pronounced chum-key) is a Hindi word which can mean tinsel or something that is glistening/glittering, sparkling, or bright, or it can means a glitter that attracts others. For me, Chamki is the name my Nana Ji, my great uncle, has called me lovingly ever since I was a child.
