Don't exfoliate, and do not use anything with glycolic acid, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, or topical acne treatments for 48 hours.
Avoid anything that can irritate your skin. Skip the gym, smoking, hot showers, steam rooms, and heavy makeup.
You should not excessively touch, rub, or pick at your skin.

Choosing the right consistency can make your job a quick and efficient one or drag it out. Softer sugar pastes take more effort and skill to handle than firmer sugar paste but it’s worth trying. I usually stick to a soft consistency for a few reasons.
1. It glides easier and faster.
2. Less friction on clients’ skin.
3. Minimum stress on my hands.
4. Doesn’t need to be heated.
Do I ever use other consistencies?
Yes I do, there are a few instances where I might grab a firmer sugar paste.
1. Temperature in my studio is warmer and causing sugar to soften too much.
2. If the sugar is not lifting, I’d apply a firmer sugar on top of the stuck one to get it unstuck.
3. If it’s a first time client with thicker hair density, I’d choose a firmer sugar for extra reinforcement.
