✨ What is a Mucus Plug and What Does It Mean in Pregnancy? ✨
As your body prepares for labor, you may notice something a little unusual — the mucus plug. This thick, jelly-like discharge is your body’s way of sealing off the cervix during pregnancy, protecting you and baby from infections.
When the plug is released, it's a sign that your body is starting to gear up for labor, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that birth is imminent. For some, it happens weeks before labor; for others, it can be right before delivery.
💡 Things to know:
The mucus plug can be clear, pink, or slightly brown.
It can come out in one piece or in bits.
Loss of the plug doesn't always mean active labor is starting, but it’s a good indicator that your body is moving closer to the big day!
