The Establishment-Casting

I received a note this morning that made me stop and really think about Thanksgiving. Im not sure I ever truly understood what we were supposed to be celebrating, but I’ve always felt conflicted about the messaging, especially when I look deeper and honestly at its history. Like so many things in life, there is such suffering along side celebration.
I cannot rewrite the past, but I will move forward with greater awareness, gratitude, and a commitment to doing better. Being better, and loving more.

In no particular order… a visual timeline of iPhone pixelation, tragic fringe experiments, and a revolving cast of chins ( mainly mine ). Apparently, I’ve spent the better part of a decade perfecting the duck face — push out, suck in, feign indifference. 🦆
I didn’t ask anyone’s permission, obviously. But if you’re truly horrified, I’ll take it down… once I’ve finished pretending not to care. 😷

I graduated from Leeds in the mid ’90s!!!!! Not entirely sure how, but I’m fairly confident my thesis carried me through. I’d even bet my final grade had more to do with the examiners not being able to read my handwriting than with the brilliance of my written exam. Back to London I went — degree in hand, no job, and a mountain of student debt. I was showing up at , working for a production company, and in whatever time I had left, worked on my flare at .
This was the Harvard of waiting tables. We memorized every ingredient, every cocktail. App, Main, Desert, Sunday special - there was nothing we didn’t know about that menu. I juggled dishes like Dr Seuss in green eggs and ham, and dreamed that one day i’d have a real job, one that didn’t involve the night bus from trafalgar square at 2am, smelling like charred burgers and onions !!!!
