Since March 15, 2020, like you, I have donated over $5,000 of my personal money. From the Dominican Republic to Africa to personal friends and families, and to organizations and businesses I love in my community.

Many of you know me as the traveling healer and know the impact of my work over the past 20 years spans internationally. I have made connections beyond borders with people who have become family. When COVID hit they were some of the first people I thought about. Like you with tears in my eyes, I watch the numbers of death rise across the world not just from COVID but from its impact: poverty, hunger, and disease.

Women and girls and LGBT people of the Caribbean, Latin America, Central, and South America and within the United States territories are still reeling from and surviving the aftermath of both current natural and man-made disasters.

From missing indigenous women, human trafficking, and immigrants crossing borders, including asylum seekers and legal migrants in detention centers. As well as, devastating hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, and wars at home and abroad; that our communities are still fleeing, rebuilding, grieving, and recovering from.

As COVID-19 spreads globally, people living in conflict zones, refugee camps, and displaced families with limited resources are being hit the hardest. COVID-19 is exasperating and reopening all these wounds that have not yet healed. If there is anything we know, is that manmade and natural disasters/pandemics/crises and wars exacerbate gender-based violence in our communities as well.

So, as COVID 19 stands in the intersections so do you and me and what we stand for. Therefore, I couldn't think of a better way of giving back than creating a fund that stands in the gap and is ready to provide post-COVID-19 healing relief.

On March 27th, 2020 we held a Virtual Healing Justice Retreat, a free all day self-healing retreat that over 700 participants attended from all over the world and coast to coast. Single mothers to elders, survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, caretakers to first responders on the frontlines attended the retreat and told us their biggest struggles and challenges right now. This Global Healing Justice Fund is part of our response.

We hope that with your support we can stand in the gap today and beyond COVID-19. We want to provide holistic rapid response and trauma care and quickly move resources to those on the frontlines providing urgent essential resources, services and organizing in their communities by May 1st.
