This Mama wanted to keep her vibrant signature red curls without having to lighten or do too much processing.
We went in the root with a 5NN for a just a few levels lighter and gray coverage.
I “toned” her from@mid shaft to ends just take some of the brass out and a light dusting for more bounce.

So... we tried something different - so much excess hair color on these ends !!
We did the minimal lightening - I love to preserve hair !!
We times with wells T18 - just to get some of the red out but steer from too much Ash - as she’s not a fan
We went in the root with a level 5.1 - it was perfect !!!
Next round will either be lighter or just tone - let’s see how bold she feels.
Gave her a lite trim to update this feathered look.

After 3 sessions we got to a happy medium !
The initial goal was gray and in between she enjoyed the blonde so here we are !!
My concern when lifting/highlighting/bleaching is always the integrity of the hair !!!!

The is constantly conspiring to what you NEED.
I didn’t know I was going to paint today. I just knew it was a BLM mural and I wanted to support and feel like I am actually doing MY part in change. I post and repost quite often. It still didn’t feel like enough. I wanted to protest and/or rally and it didn’t work out or I kept hearing be careful be careful so I hesitated.
I just want to make my nieces and nephews so proud to see what standing up or what believing in something so strongly means. I worry for them. I worry that they may be exposed to the hard truths that many are being exposed to these days.. It hurts my heart that as an Adult I can’t even say “ well because “ Because there is no excuse there is no actual logical reason for any of this EVIL. Mike I hope you’re proud - I know you would have supported me, this revolution and this movement...
Girls I hope my overly aggressive/abrasive stances - one day you will also understand & appreciate.
