Sometimes following one’s heart takes on a life of its own. I never could have expected that my side interest in Ayurveda would somehow turn into a career path. 😮

2023 will forever be marked with an important sense of completion. Six years of study culminated. Ayurvedic Doctor.🌱
———
Much gratitude to my incredible teachers who’ve guided and inspired me with their brilliance but always with humble respect for the lineage.
- - - - -
To my beautiful Sangha, my fellow students & sisters, whose friendship has been my rock especially in these past 2 years.
To my incredible family who’ve not only supported me but celebrated my decision 100% of the way. ❤️

I feel indebted to the ancient acharyas whose wisdom has stood the test of time and allowed for their knowledge to be so widely shared and practiced. To the many unknown and known practitioners, doctors, healers and defenders of this science who at times in history risked much to protect the texts and traditions from being destroyed or adulterated.
I feel honored and obliged to help carry forward the integrity of this medicine in the manner in which it was intended: in the simplest most accessible way, with devotion to those who came before and with a purity of intention to allow oneself to be a vessel for healing. 🪷

Write a caption... I have had the great privilege to be interning at an Āyurvedic hospital in Bangalore, India. The Institute of Āyurveda & Integrative Medicine (I-AIM) in Bangalore serves as a high quality healthcare facility as well as a research & educational institution.

The internship is the final stage of my doctoral program in Āyurvedic Medicine and the culmination of a course of study that I have been pursuing for the past 6+ years.

To witness Āyurveda being practiced within its full scope and capability is such a joy to witness. And to gain clinical experience in an Āyurvedic hospital is truly a dream come true.

I’m spending the fall in India to complete an internship at an Ayurvedic hospital in Bengaluru (Bangalore). Most know the megalopolis as the tech hub & fastest growing city in India. Located in the lush state of Karnataka, it is also an ideal environ for an abundance of medicinal plants & efforts to preserve its native health & healing systems including Ayurveda are alive and well. Believe not in miracles but in the possibility of returning to your true self as Nature intended.
*
Can we resolve to see that vision?
Equally, to recognize what is obstructing our view?
*
Ayurveda teaches that “disease begins when we forget our true nature as spirit.”
*
Therefore the first step in healing is the acceptance of your divinely given right to wholeness.
*
You are designed for this. It is both a vision & a reality available to you everyday. 🌱

What a spectacular celebration of fall to spend the day with Naturalist & dear friend Gabriel Willow at historic Greenwood cemetery. My task, to safely forage native, medicinal plant specimens and see what diversity of species are growing wild in my locale. I was not disappointed by what I found nor by the eruption of color & natural beauty on display at this time of year. Never underestimate the bounty of wildlife & natural abundance thriving in our urban centers. You just might have to look under foot. Happy fall! p.s. No plants were destroyed in the making of this post. 😉Please do not go digging up leafy friends from the roots in our public green spaces. 🌱

My Ayurvedic training went to a new level this week. Medicine making! Using traditional methods requires time, patience, effort & reverence.

I’ve never been so appreciative of the deeply layered wisdom of the Ayurvedic medicines that I rely upon.

Ayurveda teaches that everything found in our environment has medicinal value. But just as a substance can be one persons medicine but another’s poison,
knowing how to use and apply these substances is a skillful art. It requires a deep knowledge & relationship to the plants and elements to draw out their full potential.

Being able to gather with colleagues & friends again was nourishment for my soul. Thanks to the incomparable Dr. Anusha Sehgal for her guidance and to hosts Emily & Harmeet (Setu Vermont) for an experience I won’t soon forget.

Start 2021 right-Wash yourself with intention.

I have always loved experiencing the healing and rejuvenating qualities that come from proper long soak in a bath-ideally with the assist of cleansing salt and essential oils.

But what if baths could be more than just a home spa treat? What if it could support a deepening of your inner strength and wisdom, become a ritual to cultivate a spiritual practice or be a method of gaining mental clarity?

These are some of the benefits that can come with the practice of taking a Hydro Aroma Bath.

This weekends workshop, led by the skilled and gifted guidance of Kadi Janna, founder of The Pleasure Alchemy will be as fun as it is informative.

Register now, there are just a few spots left.

Īśhvara pranidhāna

2021’s call to action is a call to surrender

Īśhvara-translated as ‘Supreme Being’, God, ‘Ultimate Reality’, true Self, or Higher
Self.
Pranidhāna-to dedicate, devote, surrender

The practice of īśhvarapranidhāna means that if we are able to completely surrender our individual ego identities to our Higher Selves, we:

*free ourselves from stress, anxiety, self doubt & the negative impact that arises from our reliance upon our ego to determine which actions we will take in our lives.

*move beyond all feelings of separateness

*cultivate a deep and trusting relationship with the universe, (serving the God that dwells within all other beings human and non-human alike)

*****making each action an offering to something bigger than ourselves*****
