If your nails keep lifting or breaking, it doesn’t always mean the product is bad. Sometimes it’s dehydration, using nails to open things, or skipping aftercare.
Treat your nails gently, they’re jewels, not tools! 🤍

✨ Do Nails Really Breathe? ✨

This is one of the most common nail myths I hear: “I need to give my nails a break so they can breathe.”

The truth? Nails don’t breathe. They’re made of keratin (just like your hair), and keratin is a non-living protein once it grows past the skin. That’s why cutting your hair doesn’t hurt - and painting your nails doesn’t suffocate them.

The living part of your nail is the matrix, which sits under your skin at the base of your nail (just behind the cuticle). That’s where new nail cells are created, and those cells get all the oxygen and nutrients they need directly from your bloodstream - not from the air.

So if you’ve ever worried that gel polish or builder gel is “blocking” your nails from breathing, you can relax. What really keeps nails strong and flexible is hydration (cuticle oil and hand cream), gentle filing, and proper removal when it’s time for a new set.

💡 Fun fact: Nails can still absorb small amounts of oil and water. That’s why regular cuticle oil makes such a big difference - it keeps them flexible instead of brittle.

So no “air breaks” are necessary, just good care and healthy habits. Your nails don’t need to breathe… but they do love being pampered! 💅✨

✨ Base Coat vs Rubber Base vs Builder Gel - What’s the Difference? ✨

When we talk about strong, long-lasting nails, it all starts with the foundation. Each product has its own role, and using the right one makes a big difference:

▫️ Base Coat
Think of this as the primer before painting walls. It’s a thin protective layer that helps gel polish stick to your natural nail and prevents staining. Great for healthy nails that don’t need much extra strength.

▫️ Rubber Base
This is a flexible, thicker version of base coat. It bends with the natural nail, which makes it perfect for:
• Weak, thin, or bendy nails that break easily
• Adding just a bit more strength without feeling heavy
• Smoothing out uneven nail surfaces

▫️ Builder Gel
The heavyweight champion. It’s thicker and stronger, designed to:
• Build structure on natural nails
• Add real strength for longer wear
• Create overlays or even nail extensions

💡 When to choose what:
• Healthy, short nails → Base Coat
• Weak, peeling, or uneven nails → Rubber Base
• Long nails or clients who are hard on their hands → Builder Gel

The right foundation = longer lasting manicures and healthier natural nails underneath.

Let’s Talk About Hangnails 🌿

We’ve all had them - those tiny, painful little flaps of skin at the sides of the nail. But what are hangnails, and how can you deal with them the right way?

✨ What causes them?
• Dry skin (especially in colder months or from frequent handwashing)
• Biting or picking at nails
• Cutting cuticles too aggressively
• Lack of cuticle care (oil and hydration!)

✨ How to treat a hangnail safely:
• Wash your hands first.
• Use sanitized cuticle nippers to gently trim the loose skin.
• Never rip or bite it off - this can cause infection.
• Apply cuticle oil and a nourishing hand cream after trimming.

✨ Aftercare & prevention:
• Keep your cuticles hydrated daily with cuticle oil.
• Moisturize your hands often, especially after washing dishes or using sanitizer.
• Avoid cutting your cuticles too deep, pushing them back gently is usually enough.
• Wear gloves when cleaning or using harsh products.

💡 Fun fact: A hangnail isn’t actually part of the nail at all, it’s just a tiny tear of the skin next to it. Small but mighty when it comes to pain!

Fall Nails Inspo🤎👻🦇🍂

09/07/2025

I think I should clarify 😊
I’m not closing my business - I’m relocating. I’ll continue doing nails in Denmark, and this page will stay active 🤍

I’ll still be posting here some educational stuff, inspo pics, nail sets on my practice hand Bella (yes, she’s coming with me of course!). I’ll also keep sharing my own nails too.

For now, I’ve decided to stop taking local clients so I can focus on finishing my course (I’m already 94% done!), prepare for the move, and sell most of my nail supplies.

Thank you all for your support, it means a lot, and I’m excited to share the next chapter of my nail journey with you 🫶🏻✨

Some Autumn Inspo Designs✨

09/06/2025

I have some personal news to share - this October my family and I will be moving back to Denmark. Because of this, I’ll be canceling all appointments in September, and any deposits will be fully refunded.

We’ll also be doing a moving sale: I’ll be selling my full nail setup, supplies, materias, along with furniture, dinnerware, toys, Dyson Airstrait and more. My husband will be selling tools too. If you’re interested, please send me a DM.

Thank you so much for supporting my studio here in Canada, it truly means the world to me🤍

Lots of people are confused and think Shellac is some special material that works differently. In reality, Shellac is just the brand name for CND’s UV-cured gel polish system. It’s not a separate category of product, it has the same chemistry and works the same way as other soak-off gel polishes. The only difference is branding, not how it functions or cures.
