Vanillin. The ultimate bane of a soap makers life 😂 Mostly because fragrances with vanillin smell so sweet so they are super popular but imagine a pretty pink or purple or blue soap that then turns brown. Devastating. So we learn to work with it. Make darker soap colors, mix that fragrance with one that has no vanillin, use some titanium dioxide if you can to offset the browning but make no mistake if your soap fragrance has over 2% vanillin there is no saving it. It will darken… a lot. Best to plan on dark colors or work with the browning in your soap design. This fragrance has effectively 4% vanillin. I have one that has 7.25% as well. And I’ve seen some over 10%! Yes they have vanillin stabilizers but it’s still not a guarantee. I have yet to buy that but will probably try it one day. Thought I’d share how vanillin does us dirty 😂

7/11 Gas Codes Blessing this morning!
Guys money has been tight lately as I’m sure it is with most of you too. But if there’s a 7/11 near you go save some money on gas today! I saved a little over $22 on my fill up!! The extra $.50/gallon code is good today and on the 11th only. Then on the 7th and 11th of July before it expires. They all stack! I know this isn’t truly soap related but who doesn’t need gas?! Especially small business owners driving to markets!
Throwback to one of my market fails. This is exactly what runs through your head though on a loop! Trying to be hopeful and optimistic but wanting to not stay there the rest of the day. This particular one was a longer market. Hours with no sales and didn’t even cover market fees. Several packed up early and to be honest this was the only time I did too. I had an almost hour and a half drive home and I was just done. People weren’t buying though there were sooo many people out. Lessons learned but goodness. Just wanted to go home! 😂
