Hey! Meet the savage souls behind Mean But Clean: Lauren, Jander and Hugh.

Back in 2020 during the lockdown, Jander started making and selling soap as a way to help support his family. After researching the art of soap making and a lil’ hard work, Jander created recipes that were an instant hit! People were immediately in love with the quality of the soap and how amazing they smelled! After the great reception everyone had given his product, Jander launched Willow Tree Soap company, named after his daughter Willow. Jander, a proud autistic dad, felt that the real cherry on top of the cake was the fact that he was able to include his children in the soap making process, making it a fun project for the whole family.

Fast forward to late 2021, Willow Tree Soap Co had gathered a nice following, and Jander was successfully making and selling soaps on Etsy and at comedy shows. One afternoon in October, while preparing for an upcoming roast battle, Hugh reached out to Jander and Lauren (who at the time had just become his fiancé) to see if there was a way to merge his soaps with comedy. Just before reaching out, the words Mean But Clean popped in Hugh’s head as he was writing insults for the upcoming battle. Immediately, he checked to see if the domain was available, and sure enough, it was! Was it fate? Who knows? Hugh pitched the idea of bougie, high quality soaps, juxtaposed against funny, and irreverent boxes to Lauren and Jander, and the three of them decided to take the plunge and give the concept a shot.

From there, they spent their evenings after work for 6 months developing the branding, the recipes, the content, the packaging, the website, and making the soaps. The finished product was finally available and they soft launched on July 19, 2022.

Lauren, Jander, and Hugh plan on developing and releasing other fun soaps, toiletries, and bath products as the brand grows. Some mean, some a little more clean. “We don’t know where this will end up with all of this, we are just three comedians here to have some fun along the way.”

We are super excited to announce that starting tomorrow, you will be able to find Mean But Clean Soaps inside Lucid Vending machines in St. Pete and in Tampa! The owners, Kayla and Chance, have built a unique business that supports local artists, and vendors by curating products from them for their machines. We love the community driven effort they have created and are delighted to be a part of this. Thanks Kayla and Chance!

😉 Our soap can wash away the physical evidence from last night, but the sins and scars are for you to deal with. Specifically formulated for those with high mileage in the lower 48.

🧼 Just like schnapps at a gay bar, we added a heavy pour of peppermint essential oils inside this cold process soap to make it tingle in all the right places, while adding a generous amount of poppyseeds for a natural exfoliant. Each soap comes in a hilarious mailer reminding the recipient why you are their most savage friend.
