Veil of Dusk

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper [...] he should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” MLK said later in this same speech. There have been many moments when I’ve been angsty about not being more IMPORTANT—that I’m not a lawyer or a politician fighting for our democracy, or a doctor or researcher stopping COVID or HIV. These are some very weird times to be an artist/craftsperson in. But I try to remember that my efforts uplift my fellow humans and that is truly an important thing.
