Mindfulness is a practice anyone can implement if they find themselves rushing, having an overly busy mind, or feeling anxious. Set an intention to try these practices throughout the day for a week and check in after to see how you feel.
If you are in the middle of chores, driving, or work- take a few minutes to:
Slow your breathing, tune in to your senses and find yourself in the present moment.

Meditation can actually change your brain over time. 🧠 Research has found that consistent meditation practice is associated with measurable differences in brain regions involved in attention, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and learning. In one landmark MRI study, experienced meditators showed greater cortical thickness in areas of the brain linked to attention and sensory processing, suggesting that the brain can adapt through regular mental training.

✨Even a few quiet minutes each day can be an investment in your long-term mental wellbeing.

📚 Reference: Lazar SW, Kerr CE, Wasserman RH, et al. Meditation experience is associated with increased cortical thickness. NeuroReport. 2005;16(17):1893–1897.

How to cold brew:
Use 1–2 tablespoons loose tea or 2 tea bags per quart (4 cups) of filtered water.
Steep in the refrigerator for 8–12 hours.
Strain and serve over ice.
Add fresh fruit or herbs just before serving for extra flavor.

Fresh or frozen peaches, berries, or citrus wedges are especially good! 🍑🍓🍋

Fancourt D, Tymoszuk U. (2019). Cultural engagement and incident depression in older adults: Evidence from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing. British Journal of Psychiatry.

What they studied

2,148 adults aged 50+ in England
Participants had no depression at the start of the study.
Researchers followed them for 10 years.
They looked at how often participants attended:
museums
art galleries
theaters
concerts
the cinema
Importantly, these findings remained significant even after adjusting for:

age
income
education
physical health
exercise
smoking
alcohol use
social engagement
personality traits
So it wasn’t simply that healthier or wealthier people were more likely to attend cultural events.

Walking is an amazing tool for brain health and overall wellness!
✨Adults aged 55–80 participated in a 1-year moderate-intensity walking program.
☀️They walked about 40 minutes, three times per week (including warm-up and cool-down).
🌻Compared with a stretching control group, the walkers experienced about a 2% increase in hippocampal volume, effectively reversing 1–2 years of typical age-related shrinkage.
🌷The walking group also showed improvements in spatial memory.
👉Researchers found increased levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that supports the growth and survival of neurons and is associated with neurogenesis.
