6 years ago today, I started leasing a grumpy little paint horse who had no idea how much he was about to change my life.
Over the last 6 years, we’ve collected more memories than I could ever count—snarky expressions, dramatic yawns, horse shows, terrorizing his poor donkeys, many photo shoots that you hate but always somewhat cooperate in, swimming adventures, endless attitude, and those morning nickers that still greet me every time he hears the front door open.
These days, retirement looks good on you, buddy. You’ve earned every lazy afternoon, every snack, the 4 fans in your stall, and every bit of spoiling.
Merlin is the reason I became the bodyworker I am today. Every challenge he gave me pushed me to learn more, ask more questions, and never stop searching for ways to help horses feel better. This business, these certifications, and the passion I have for helping horses all started with you. Which is why he is the face proudly displayed in my logo
Thank you for being my greatest teacher, my biggest challenge, the cause of most my stress, and my heart horse.
Here’s to 6 incredible years… and many, many more. ❤️ enjoy some pictures from the last year of craziness, laughs, funny faces and smiles

Now offering equine, canine, and human PEMF sessions—including a new Fur Family Package so everyone can feel their best in one visit. 🐴🐶🙋
You’ve probably heard of PEMF... but what exactly does it do?
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy) works by delivering gentle electromagnetic pulses that support normal cellular function and the body’s natural healing processes. The goal isn’t to “fix” the body—it’s to create an environment that helps it function and recover more efficiently.
Whether it’s a performance horse, a senior dog, or a person dealing with sore muscles after a long day, PEMF can be a valuable addition to an overall wellness routine.
Swipe through to learn about:
• General benefits of PEMF
• Common conditions it’s used to support in horses
• Common conditions it’s used to support in dogs
• Common conditions it’s used to support in people
Questions about whether PEMF could be a good fit for you or your animal? Send me a message—I’m always happy to chat.

Your horse doesn’t have to be working hard to become fatigued in this kind of heat.
When temperatures climb into the upper 90s and 100s, your horse is already working overtime just to regulate body temperature. Add a ride, lesson, trail ride, or horse show, and those muscles have to work even harder.
Heat and dehydration can contribute to:
- Earlier muscle fatigue
- Increased muscle tension and soreness
- Slower recovery after exercise
- Decreased performance and willingness to work
That’s why recovery matters just as much as the ride itself.
After working in extreme heat, focus on helping your horse bounce back:
- Allow plenty of time to cool down
- Offer fresh water and electrolytes when appropriate
- Don’t rush them back to work before they’re fully recovered
- Consider recovery therapies like massage, PEMF, stretching, or red light therapy to help support circulation, muscle relaxation, and overall comfort.
Not every hot day needs to be a hard training day. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your horse is adjust the plan, prioritize recovery, and let them feel their best.
Your horse’s body is working hard to take care of them. Help take care of it, too. ❤️

One of the things I evaluate during every bodywork session is muscle development. While many people associate larger muscles with strength, that’s not always the case.
This horse has severe hock arthritis and navicular changes. One thing that stood out during her assessment was an overdeveloped radial carpal extensor muscle in her front limb.
At first glance, that might seem like a positive thing. In reality, it may actually be a clue that the muscle has been working overtime.
When a horse struggles to comfortably push from behind, they’ll often shift more weight and workload onto the front end. Over time, certain muscles can become larger simply because they’re compensating for limitations elsewhere in the body.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the muscle is stronger. It means it’s working harder.
This is why I spend so much time looking at the horse as a whole. Sometimes the area doing the most work isn’t the area causing the problem. It’s simply the area trying its best to compensate.
Muscles tell a story. Learning to recognize those patterns can provide valuable insight into how a horse is moving, loading, and adapting to their own body.
Have you ever noticed one side of your horse being more developed than the other?
