Wolf 907F died in Yellowstone on Christmas Day as one of the oldest known wolves in the park. PART 2 is now up on our profile with updates from a Yellowstone wolf researcher! On Dec. 22, 2024, a rival wolf pack crossed into her pack’s territory and attacked her and her pups while they were feeding on a bison carcass. She died from her wounds three days later. At 11 years old (typical wolf lifespan is 2-5 years), 907F was a fierce leader and mother. In May of this year, she gave birth to her tenth litter of pups, which researchers say is very likely a park record. Even with being blind in one eye, 907F was the leader of the Junction Butte pack, which dens near Slough Creek. As one of the largest packs in the park, they are often seen roaming along Route 212.
