“The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”
-JRR Tolkien, the Fellowship of the Ring
absolutely ADORE this dreamy shot and edit of me by from his backyard pool shoot 🖤

On threads someone wrote to post your favorite cosplay photo of yourself. While I picked another more dynamic pose, I was reminded how I absolutely love this stoic shot of my sister of battle. Sometimes the detail speaks for itself.
I’m wondering which 40k costume I should bring to Wondercon. I’ve worn and loved my sister of battle so much, I think maybe my Drukhari needs to come out again

It’s been 8 months since I started my first woodworking and laser engraving project, I can’t believe it’s finally done and out of my work space! I’ve left it for weeks at a time and it’s been preventing me from starting other projects just because of it being in the way. Now, I just need some heavy duty picture wire to hang it, but for now it’s sat leaning on the wall.
The map is 3D layers of basswood, laser engraved using my own files adapted from Christopher Tolkien’s map of Middle Earth, all separated out like puzzle pieces to fit into my laser on 15x15 inch basswood sheets. The blue is a water-based stain and I kept the land pieces natural tone. Everything is varnished with a semi-gloss polyurethane.
The frame is my first true woodworking project. It is stained mahogany, ripped, cut, then routed with my brand new routing table. I’m still surprised I managed to make perfect corners and that my art fit perfectly inside!
I think once it’s hung I’ll make a replica of Gandalf’s pipe to fill that center space without distracting from the art

Over the summer I’ve been working on a 3d map of middle earth for above my fireplace. It’s been a lot of work but I’ve finally got most of the pieces cut out and I’m ready to work on a frame and begin staining and finishing. I had to cut down my files along rivers and mountains to hide my 15x15 size limitation of my laser engraver, and the result is a looot of little puzzle pieces for each layer. I can’t wait to see it finished and on a wall!
Tagging for a shameless ask to sponsor me as I t would have been a lot less work to work with that fancy bigger machine 🥳

It’s been a week and I’m still absolutely honored and proud to have won not one, but two prizes in Dragon Con’s Friday Night Costume Contest! When I received the award for best prop (Clank) I was happy (of course!) But having already been called I was SO surprised I wad called a second time as winner in the Professional category!
I started Rivet and Clank almost 2 years ago. I competed with her in December and just missed the win, and spent the last 8 months upgrading it for DC including making an entirely new tail, a foam-constructed hammer (proud that it’s 0% 3d printed), new goggle glass, various upgrades to Clank, and general repairs. I consider all of the work worth it to retire her contest career at such a prestigious event as Dragon Con!
Thanks to the judges and all of the amazing volunteers at DC, it wouldn’t be possible without you!

Rivet was debuted this last weekend at LACC! I had so much fun and I loved that so many kids recognized her! Clank did great on my back and was an obvious hit! I’ve been working on this costume since March and I’m so glad to finally have her finished. Time for a well deserved crafting break!
