DON’T FORGET to UPDATE YOUR PROGRESS PHOTOS!
As uncomfortable as it may be at first, your progress photos (before, after, and all the in between) serves 2 GREAT PURPOSES.
1) When your progress plateaus or slows, as it inevitably will along the way…it’s important to REMIND ourselves HOW FAR WE’VE COME. This will encourage us to stay PERSISTENT and work towards future improvements.
2) OTHER than your ENERGY LEVELS (i.e. the WAY YOU FEEL), it is the most important “measurement” you can take.
When you finally start feeding yourself properly and exercising regularly, your body can do amazing and confusing things.
Sometimes you won’t necessarily lose weight because you’ve added muscle and have lost fat.
—>Without a body scan to measure exactly where you stand with body composition, it can be FRUSTRATING to say the least.
The photos help to show you the PROGRESS.

Do what you have to do to become who you want to become.
Identity plays a huge role in any change you may be trying to make in your life.
We make a lot of our decisions to keep us in alignment with our identity, whether healthy and unhealthy.
I’ve gone through countless identity shifts over the years. Wrestler. Marine Corps ROTC. Walk-on. Football Player. NFL Football Player. Husband. Dad. Retired NFL Football Player. Broadcaster. Health Advocate. Online Coach.
What I’ve learned through all of that is WE have the FREEDOM TO CHOOSE who WE want to become.
Once you do that, you have to figure out what is required to become that person and get to work checking off the necessary boxes.
Find someone you can model your behaviors and decision making processes after.
—>Ask yourself…”What would they do or say here?”
You may feel like you’re faking at first. Keep going. We all feel that way.
Eventually, you’ll become who you set out to become!

I AM a STRENGTH COACH!
I OFFICIALLY passed my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Exam today.
—>This is THE STANDARD for Strength Coaches!
Thanks to all of my former strength coaches for their inspiration and motivation to accomplish this task. You guys were always my favorite 💪🏼 !! It was NO SMALL FEAT!
The textbook (that I still need to return to Coach Bud 😬) is over 600 pages!!!
It required months of focused studying, and 3 extremely long nights and even longer days of cramming.
I celebrated by coming home and training my legs! What else would a STRENGTH COACH do?

STADIUM MED BALL WORKOUT
With a Med Ball of Your Choice…
1) Throw and Chase—> 16 x 100 yards
—>Change throwing style
—>Jog to ball and throw again
2) Stadium Stairs with Med Ball
—> GO UNTIL LEGS ARE SHAKY 🥵
—>Double Stairs Up (Run up if possible)
—>A little slower and eccentric down
—> Change carrying style of Med Ball

Do You Know Your Body Fat %?
Knowing your BODY COMPOSITION may help steer your body goals and your programming to achieve those goals.
For example…yesterday I weighed in at 240 and was feeling a little plump after vacation.
I thought I needed to bust out the Lose Like a Lineman program again.
—>So, I went today to visit my friend .vqlabs to get a DEXA Scan and see EXACTLY where I stood with BODY COMPOSITION.
—>Jeremy is also a wealth of knowledge on fitness and nutrition. Podcast soon?
It turns out, I’ve got 12.1% body fat, which is 28.7lbs of fat.
So, to recalibrate my goals…I’d like to get down to under 8% and keep my lean tissue close to 200lbs. That’ll take me down 10lbs to 228-ish.
I’m going to modify the program to add more protein (~230g/day) and do my best to hold on to my lean mass.

DAY 1/32
It’s been a HOT MINUTE since I’ve tapped into my own Lose Like a Lineman program.
TODAY…I BEGIN AGAIN!
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I believe in WEIGHT BUMPERS. I believe MEN should aim to have a weight range of 10-15 lbs, from their low to high.
The upper end allows a little room to work on building muscle, focusing on strength, and loosening up in general. It’s obviously more fun!
Getting back to the lower end requires more discipline at THE TABLE!
—>My range is between 225 and 240.
Now that I’ve hit my upper limit, it’s time to TIGHTEN THE REINS in a bit.
—>Follow along with my posts and stories and see how, when dedicated to the process (MOSTLY on the NUTRITION SIDE), the WEIGHT WILL FALL OFF!

I DON’T KNOW how much longer I’ll be able to keep up with these two maniacs on the slopes.
But I DO KNOW that I’m not going quietly into the night.
It’s too much fun being one of THE BOYS to just relent!
So I’ll be training my ass off with renewed focus so they can’t leave me behind for years to come.
