Gold Comb is ten years old today. TEN YEARS!!!

What started as a tiny three chair shop on North Park Way by three friends is now an eight chair shop around the corner on Grim Avenue. All we wanted from day one was to create a space that was bright, open, and where everyone felt welcome. We feel like we’ve accomplished that.

We want to thank all of the amazing clients who have supported and kept up busy for a decade, the insanely talented barbers that we have been so lucky to share a space with past & present, and of course the entire North Park community. We love being a small part of this neighborhood.

Special shoutout to Monica who started this with us but has since moved on to a new career. We love you and are so proud of you.

We’re pretty terrible at the whole social media thing, but ten years is a big deal and we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge it and say thank you.

Howie’s career as a barber started during his time in the military where he served 5 years in the Marines. What started as a hobby and a way to keep the other guys looking sharp, quickly turned into something he truly enjoyed and took a lot of pride in. With over 5 years experience, he enjoys all aspects of being a barber. Whether you need a fresh haircut or good conversation, Howie’s got you.

Howie is at the shop from Tuesday - Saturday. Head to thegoldcomb.com to make an appointment.

PARKING UPDATE: If you plan on parking in one of the lots on Grim, do NOT pay by scanning the QR code on the blue sign. That only gives you an option for 2 hours and will charge you $8.

Walk over to the machine at the edge of the lot, touch any button, enter your license plate number and select option 1. This allows you to park for an hour for $2.

There is also usually free street parking on Grim, North Park Way or Ray St.

Ryan was born and raised in the Bay Area where he started cutting hair in 2018. He moved to San Diego in 2024. He enjoys doing natural styles such as medium length shear cuts, mullets and brushbacks, as well as fades and straight razor shaves.

In his free time he is usually skateboarding, reading, doing yoga, and hanging out with his wife and their pug, Norman.

Today was Nick’s last day at the shop. To say we are sad would be an understatement.

We love you, and already miss you like crazy. Best of luck on your next adventure. You always have a home

Today marks 7 years of Gold Comb!!

Gold Comb hasn’t raised prices in over two years, and with inflation hitting hard we have decided that it is time.
Beginning August 1st, we will be raising the prices on all services. Each barber will be setting their own prices. Please reach out to your barber if you’d like to know their price increase or keep your eyes peeled for updates on our booking site.
