Day 8 we broke our Juice Feast at about 2.30 pm. It's important to take time and listen to our body when breaking a fast. Raw whole foods only for the first couple of days. If a colour or shape or smell of a fruit or vegetable speak to you, then this is the best food for your first bite, or maybe even the first 'meal'. A meal may be just a few mouthfuls before resting.
My husband and I consciously grazed on the platter in the pic over an hour or so, and didn't finish.

Yesterday we started a Juice Fast. One of our morning rituals is to watch the sun rise. This was the view 😂
Still, the sun is coming up behind that beautiful fog, so we connected with the fire energy, and honoured Father Sun on the Day of the Solstice. It's a great time to start a fast on the energy of change that the solstice brings.

Lemon water!
First drink in the morning is 1liter water with juice of 1 lemon, grate or two of peel, and a pinch of Himalayan salt.

This is a hydrating drink, with Vitamin C, folate, potassium, antioxidants, a tiny bit of iron, amongst other micronutrients and phytonutrients.

Lemon water supports digestion, the liver and our skin. It balances the pH levels in our body, which, for good health, needs to be alkaline.

It can also:
*reduce skin issues,
*promote weight loss,
*protect from disease
*prevent kidney stones
*hydrate for exercise

TIP:
Use the remaining lemon flesh to rub onto your skin. I usually focus on my face and any other blemishes (or age spots 😳). Then go out in the sun for 5 minutes.
This helps banish blemishes, tone, close pores, and is like a mini facial.

QUICK UPDATE AND OIL PULLING

I've been quietly in the background lately with many things, and especially fasting retreats.
Today I feel like it's time to start bringing back some good quality information, as I work my way back to in-person retreats.

OIL PULLING
Oil pulling is an excellent ritual to incorporate regularly into your day, for your health.
It involves placing about a tablespoon of oil (I use organic unrefined coconut oil) into your mouth and swishing it around and between your teeth, and throughout the entire mouth for about 20 minutes. When finished, spit the oil into the garbage bin. If you spit into a sink, the oil cools, becomes solid again and can clog the drain.

When first starting this ritual, perhaps you might start with a teaspoon for 5 minutes until you are used to the sensation. Often the coconut oil is solid, so takes a bit of working around the mouth until it's warmed to liquid state, when the swishing can begin. Then, after a few days you can start to increase the amount and time.

The best time to do this is first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything else. The antimicrobial properties in the oil reduce the bacteria and other toxins that congregate in our mouth overnight.

Benefits include:
Teeth whitening
Gum health
Teeth health (reduce cavities)
Reduce halitosis (bad breath)
Heart health
Sinus clearing
Relax jaw muscles
May help with teeth grinding

Oil pulling can additionally be done before bed, particularly helpful if you have halitosis, bleeding gums, teeth or teeth grinding issues.

Broke my 7 day fast (3 days water, 4 juice) today with Watermelon. My intention is to step on to the Rainbow Bridge by eating each of the colours of the rainbow for the next 7 days.
First day is red. The pic is my next meal.
