This is so true
I have so many clients
Who have hard water build up on their hair.

HAIR SCIENCE: Hard Water
It can trigger eczema, dry skin and skin irritation. It can cause hair to feel rough and cause it to tangle. It can buildup on faucets, drains and make for a lousy cup of coffee. It is hard water…and according to the U.S. Geological Survey, it is estimated that more than 85% of the water used by consumers in the US can be classified at some level of “hard” water.

HOW DOES IT AFFECT HAIR?
The hair shaft is made up of little scales, like shingles on a roof. Hard water tends to make the scales stand up, which makes your hair feel rough and tangly. Since your hair is tangled and rough, it is more difficult to rinse out all of the soap. Soap is less effective in very hard water because its reacts with the excess minerals to form calcium or magnesium salts. This buildup can leave hair dull, lifeless and weighed down.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT:
Thankfully if you’re in an area of the country with hard water there are options to soften water with filters, purifiers, demineralizers and can help out your hair with SUDZZfx Nyrvana™ Purifying Shampoo. It’ll remove mineral and salt deposits in your hair as well as styling product buildup without leaving your hair dry.

WHAT CREATES IT?
Rainwater is soft and mineral free. But, when it falls to the ground it seeps through the soil and rocks and dissolves minerals which give it its character. If the rainwater water passes through hard rock, it remains soft. However, if the ground water seeps through softer rocks, like the limestone very common in the Great Lakes Basin, it dissolves lots of minerals, principally calcium and magnesium, along the way. The term "hard water" is used to describe water that has a high mineral content, usually calcium and magnesium but may also include bicarbonates and sulfates. The degree of hardness becomes greater as the mineral content increases. The term “hard water” was originally coined to refer to water that was difficult or hard to work with. Hard water requires much more soap, shampoo, or detergent than soft water; and the minerals in hard water can decrease soap’s lathering capabilities.

SUDZZfx RECIPE: BEACH TEXTURIZING SPRAY
On both guys and gals…nothing looks better than the kind of wild, hyper-textured you only get after a day at the beach. The sea salt and sun combine to create loose, carefree waves that just don’t happen anywhere else. There are lots of off the shelf products you can use to recreate this look in-salon…but it’s actually incredibly easy to mix yourself and then be able to recreate the effect in salon or at home!

WHAT YOU NEED:
An empty spray bottle (like the SUDZZfx spray bottle), water, sea salt (Himalayan Salt works best), coconut oil (or any oil of your choice), SUDZZfx BlowOut™ Volumizing Spray Gel, measuring cup and teaspoon.

1: Fill a spray bottle with 1 teaspoon of sea salt. We recommend Himalayan Sea Salt, which is finely ground and contains a high amount of natural minerals.

2: Next add ½ teaspoon of coconut oil. You can use virtually any kind of oil…however coconut oil is reminiscent of the beach and is also loaded with nutrients. If coconut oil isn’t your thing…merely substitute for another.

3: Lastly add ½ teaspoon of SUDZZfx BlowOut™ Volumizing Spray Gel. This is just for hold to keep the wavey texture to stay in place throughout the day. For increased hold…just increase the amount of spray gel to your mixture.

4: Add 1 cup (8oz) of water and close the spray bottle. Shake vigorously. Spray it on damp or dry hair and scrunch the hair up towards the head to create waves. The next day, before each application, just shake the spray bottle vigorously again as the mixture will separate if sitting for a while.

Done! Beach hair without the beach!
