🌸Rose Geranium- a long used and well loved skincare botanical 🌸

Known for its antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory compounds, Rose Geranium has earned its place in a long history of skincare and perfume use. The mildly astringent herb is used for tightening pores, cleansing the skin, and providing a gentle uplifting aroma that is known to help us relax and lessen anxiety.
Not to mention, when it's used as a hydrosol, all those beneficial oils that hydrate the skin are combined with pure distilled water to create a nourishing topical mist that can be used before applying any other oils or creams. And since Rose Geranium is known to be photosensitive, a hydrosol like this is the perfect addition to your nighttime skincare routine, combining soothing aromatherapy with a night of hydration!

As always, you can find our full collection of farm grown Hydrosols on our website, or at Hub City Farmers' Market this Saturday and Sunday!

We've got fresh cucumbers and peppers, and our garlic is cured, so it's pickle time!!!

These diy pickle kits include, cucumbers, peppers, garlic, rosemary, our farm grown onion salt, and a recipe card, so the only other things you'll need is a little black pepper and white vinegar!

And luckily, this weekend is a double Hub City Farmers' Market weekend! This Saturday we'll be at the regular market location at Northside Harvest Park, and on Sunday we'll be at Morgan Square in Downtown Spartanburg!

Back to ramble at you about something we've been working on- our line of farm fresh Hydrosols!

Providing the freshest in season herbal remedies has become something I'm so passionate about, and high quality hydrosols are one of the purest, and freshest, ways that we can distill the botanicals from our farm into something you can use in your daily skincare routine. And by avoiding pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, we ensure that only the highest quality elements from our plants are distilled into our hydrosols.

If you want to learn more about what Hydrosols are, and how they can elevate your skincare, check out our website or the other reels we've posted on the topic!

(I unfortunately realized after filming that the info card at the end is blurry, but the same information can be found in the Hydrosol listing on our website!)

All of our farm fresh lavender has been picked and dried, now we get to the fun part; turning all that lavender into the herbal remedies and self care products!

If you watch our stories, you know that our owners and herbalist, Chase, is always working on some kind of sewing project. So using some of this lavender in flax pillows (made by yours truly) that can be heated or cooled and used as an eye or sore muscle pillow, was a given.
They're a wonderful thing to add to your evening self care routine, or to just have around to enhance moments of meditation.

Lavender Eye Pillows are restocked on our website, or you can come by our booth at Hub City Farmers' Market any Saturday and grab one!

Our 'Guide to Seasonal Self Care' is officially available on our website!!

This guide is our way of helping you make choices in food and wellness that align with the changes of the season.

What's in this summer's guide?

☀️A little intro to our farm, and what we've been up to this summer.

☀️A deep dive into learning about a few herbs that can be used to cool the body, and we provide some mocktail recipes using said herbs!

☀️We turned our most popular in person class 'From Seed to Spice' into a step by step guide to help you grow your own culinary and medicinal herbs!

☀️ We created an in season produce and herb guide specifically for South Carolina, featuring all the goodies you'll find at the local farmers markets this time of year!

☀️There's been a lot of talk about herbs for repelling insects naturally this season, so we also included a list of the best insect repelling herbs, and made note of what they replel and how they're best used.

☀️ You'll also find a breakdown of our summer remedy line, with features for our seasonal culinary salts, vinegars, and more!

Happy Juneteenth!!!

I just wanted to take some time to ramble today, and share a bit of history on southern folk medicine, particularly how the people of West Africa that faced enslavement had a very large influence in the culture of herbalism today.
Without their knowledge, the American South would not exist as the American South at all. So while this topic isn't directly tied to the reason we celebrate Juneteenth, I did want to take some time to acknowledge it today!

I got cut off at the end, but that's okay, I went on a target about malaria and the response of the people at the time anyway. If you want to hear more about this topic, I'd be happy to share, and if you have anything to add, please leave your knowledge in the comments below! The history of our folk medicine is something I'm always wanting to learn more about ☺️
