Scope of practice is so important for us to remember.

It’s inevitable that we will have some clients who have emotional releases, so it’s important to know how to bring closure to that release and move forward with the session.

I’m curious what you all think of this. It’s a huge topic in ethics that we shouldn’t turn into armchair psychotherapists. It’s not in our licensure, and it’s not healthy or advisable for us to be acting as if it is.

Yet we still stay compassionate and present with our clients.

How do you personally handle it when a spontaneous emotional release happens in your treatment room?

Bones should be soft. If they feel feel hard or rigid, they need treated.

Reading my blog about what makes bones, rigid, and why it’s so important to soften them up.

They should feel like a wet sponge, not a hard, dry sponge. They are, after all, 65% water!

I saw this shot while I was walking around to each table to give individual support to each student as they practiced the techniques they were learning. I just had to share it with you.

Because it is a sign that when you love what you do, good things happen. 😊

The group of therapists I taught this weekend were all very engaged in learning. Even though the concepts I was teaching them were new to most of them, they all had open minds and hearts, and took in the information and got it into their hands quite quickly, I thought.

Classes like this make me remember why I teach. I love sharing the things that have kept me in the manual therapy world for over 20 years. The skills that really get your attention, and make you see that what you’re doing really matters. It helps so many people to have better health. It’s worth taking the time to learn and practice and keep showing up every day to see who comes in your door and how you’re going to increase their health today.

I love what I do in the office, and the only thing better is sharing it with others so they can also have the skills that have helped me make a difference in people’s lives.

Not all massage therapy education creates the same kind of practitioner.

I wrote a blog last night about what I believe actually matters in hands-on training — beyond just hours, tests, and checking boxes.

If you’re considering continuing education or massage school, I think this conversation matters.

You can read it on my website.

Student Testimonial Continued 👇🏼 THANK YOU 🤩

“…Tina is so knowledgeable about the body in ways I couldn’t have even fathomed were real just couple years ago, which you could say about any teacher, but what stands out is her passion. she is so excited to teach that it makes the whole class just as excited.

Tina told our class while I was still in massage school to never stop being a beginner. you’ll never be an expert because knowledge doesn’t end, it’s when you stop being curious that you stop improving.

Tina has done a good amount of body work on me as well, and it’s pretty far from anything i’ve experienced. It’s changed the way the systems of my body feel and function.

Learning from Tina has been such a pleasure and life changing experience. I really hope that one day I might be know how to do half the things she does. Her genuine character shines through so brightly.

I know it’s a big commitment to start this process. I started school on a whim, unsure if bodywork was what I even wanted to do - but the type of work Tina does is what made me never regret my decision.”

Current workout routine: Tripod Cardio™ 😂

Read notes.
Hit record.
Walk to chair.
Teach.
Walk back to camera.
Hit stop.
Re-record.
Repeat until enlightened… or slightly delirious.

I’m always talking about how important it is to get movement work in, and honestly… this may be the most movement I’m getting these days. 😆

Just kidding. I actually am doing my movement work — I’ve got to keep myself healthy and ready for August when school begins.

But truly, this is how a lot of my time is being spent right now when I’m not working, with friends, with my dogs, or out sailing more. ⛵ (I have sailing plans soon though!!)

And I have to say… I’m loving this process.

Building the Ethics & Business portion of this program is giving me so much food for thought. I’m learning while I’m teaching, refining while I’m creating, and getting more excited to share this with students every day.

Can’t wait to share it with the first cohort this August.

And if you’re curious about being one of the people I share this with… send me a message. I’d be happy to tell you about the program and see if it feels like a good fit.

🌟 Sneak peek!

I’ve gotten all of my ethics lectures done for the first (fall) quarter of massage school! Check these out and let me know what you think in the comments! I would love to get your feedback on this!

The lecture videos for the school won’t have captions unless you add them to listen, but they will have other features. This is just the raw footage with captions added.

It’s so satisfying to be making serious progress on this now that I have someone more techy than me helping me to edit the videos. What a blessing!!

It feels like when things just fall into place, we must be doing what we’re meant to do. ❤️

🌊 Lymphatic & Venous Drainage

May 15–16

This class is all about flow.

You’ll learn gentle, specific techniques to support the movement of lymph and venous blood—helping reduce swelling, support immune function, and create noticeable changes with a light touch.

We’ll focus on:
   •   Improving fluid movement and drainage
   •   Reducing congestion and inflammation
   •   Techniques that are easy on your body but powerful for your clients

This work integrates beautifully into any session and is especially helpful for clients dealing with chronic swelling, post-surgical recovery, or systemic congestion.

This is not an oncology class, but rather an “increase their health” class.
