This was a really cool project from a few weeks back.
This was a 14’ nylon whip a customer had ordered, but they provided their own handle.
It is a hand carved war club from a native tribe in Kenya Africa. The customer asked me to drill out the end to attach the whip, and it worked perfectly. No idea what the wood was but it was incredibly hard.
Probably a one of its kind in the world!

Let’s talk buckskin whips

I only make 2-4 of these whips per year, I tan the deer hides myself by hand, cut and prep all the strings, and of course do all the plaiting.

They are a labor of love and very time consuming compared to the nylon whips that are much more cost effective and quicker to make. But I love to make these because it keeps a nearly extinct skill alive that runs deep in Florida Cracker culture and history.

That being said, I’m currently tanning hides in preparation to make a few buckskin whips at the FL state fair in February, I like to time it just right so I can make them at the fair, so I’m able to demonstrate to the public what the process is of making one of these whips.
I’m planning to make 4 total, and two of those whips have already been claimed. That leaves 2 order slots left for these leather Cowwhips, so if you think you would like one, send me a message, I’d love to make you a piece of Florida history.

The Christmas Order cutoff date is fast approaching, I’ll accept Christmas orders for whips till Monday November 10th, so get your orders placed soon! After that date I’ll still accept orders but they won’t be made till March 2026 after I’m done working at Cracker Country at the FL state fair.

You just can’t beat a classic.
The very first whip order I ever received was for a 12’ solid black whip just like this one. And I still think it’s about as sharp looking of a whip as you can have.
