After nearly 10 years of practicing Reiki, and 3 years as a Gendai Reiki Master, I'm excited to share something I've been asked about many times: When will I be offering classes?

The answer is now. 🌿

I'm announcing my first Gendai Reiki Level 1 certification class, happening August 16th

This step has been a long time coming, and if I'm being honest, it hasn't always felt easy to claim. For over 20 years as a hairstylist, clients would tell me, again and again, that I had healing hands. I heard it so often it almost became background noise — something I appreciated but didn't fully let sink in.

When I first stepped into the world of Reiki, I carried some real imposter syndrome. Did I actually have what it took to be a "real" Reiki Master? Even now, there are moments that feeling creeps back in — and then a client will say it again: you have healing hands. And I'm reminded, once more, that this path chose me long before I chose it.

I still remember my own first experience receiving Reiki as a client, before I ever imagined becoming a Gendai Reiki Master myself. That one session was enough to lead me to sign up for my Level 1 class with my mentor, and friend, Olivia Veloso — and everything unfolded from there.

Now I'm stepping into this new role, guiding others on this same path, and owning my healing hands with pride.

It's July in Arizona. If you've lived here long enough, you know what that means - it's HOT. Like, dangerously, can't-be-outside-for-long, fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk hot. The kind of heat that makes you question all your life choices.
But here's the thing - this heat isn't just uncomfortable. It affects our mental health, our stress levels, our energy, and our ability to think straight. When your body is constantly trying to cool itself down, your nervous system is working overtime. You're more irritable, more tired, more overwhelmed.
So let's talk about how to survive (and maybe even thrive) during Arizona's most brutal season.

Keeping Your Sanity in the Summer Heat

Find Your Cool Spaces - This is the month to be indoors, friends. Your home, your car with AC, and yes - spaces like Sozo Healing House where you can escape the heat and find peace. Indoor yoga, sound baths, reiki, art classes - these aren't luxuries in July, they're survival tools.

Move Slowly - The heat wants you to slow down. Listen to it. Skip the high-intensity workouts and try gentle yoga, slow stretching, or meditative movement. Let your body work with the season instead of against it.

Hydrate Like It's Your Job - Drink more water than you think you need. Your nervous system needs it, your skin needs it, your brain needs it.

Create Rituals - Heat can feel chaotic and frazzled. Grounding rituals help. Whether it's meditation, journaling, a consistent yoga practice, or a weekly massage - these create anchors when everything else feels intense.

Get Outside Early or Late - If you need fresh air and movement, hit it at sunrise or after sunset. The heat is intense, but the peace is worth it.
