When Kimberly joined the Crown Confidence Workshops at the end of January, she shared that she didn’t feel confident wearing her natural hair. She wanted to learn, but more than anything, she wanted to feel comfortable embracing her crown. Seven months later, her story looks very different.
Today, Kimberly proudly wears her natural hair with confidence. She’s learned how to care for it, style it, and continues to grow in her understanding of healthy hair and self-confidence. Her journey is proof that when education meets encouragement, lives are transformed.

We don’t just teach styling hair or braiding.
We cultivate confidence. We provide education. We create safe spaces where children, teens, and adults learn to embrace who they are from the inside out.

Over the last five years, Touches of Nykesa has had the honor of serving families, teaching natural hair care, reading to children, hosting Crown Confidence Workshops, creating the Lil’ Crowns Big Confidence book series, and showing young people that caring for their crown is also about caring for their confidence.
Every braid, every wash day, every workshop, every story, and every conversation has been about planting seeds that continue to grow.

Wash day is more than just cleansing for me, it’s a full reset for my crown 👑✨
On my 4A–4C hair, I always make sure to hydrate before taking my hair down to reduce breakage and keep my strands soft and protected. Moisture is everything before manipulation!
After takedown, I take my time to massage my scalp, not just for relaxation, but to stimulate blood flow, support healthy growth, and reconnect with my crown 🌿
