None of this is new. But it matters.

It’s why we make the choices we do:
– glass and aluminum over plastic
– sourcing from regenerative, organic farms
– protecting pollinators and biodiversity
- no pesticides, heavy metals, or contaminants
- no harmful chemicals commonly found in cosmetics
(parabens, PFAS/forever chemicals, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic fragrance, etc.)

We’re not perfect. But we believe better decisions over time add up.

Thanks for being part of it.

And happy Earth Day. 🌎️

I photographed these little loves in February when they were swarming in a local redwood forest. Our native ladybug, 🐞 Coccinella californica is an especially beneficial insect because they love to munch on aphids! But please don’t buy them for your garden. You may see them for sale at big box stores but these have been illegally poached and most of them will die before they get released.

I used to see ladybugs regularly in my backyard growing up and always thought they brought good luck 🍀 but I rarely see them or many other small animals anymore in that same yard. Our insect populations have been declining rapidly since the 70s. 😳😭😢

What you can do to help:
1. Plant native habit so they have somewhere to live!
2.Never use pesticides or herbicides
3.Educate others on the bad practice of selling poached insects which damages local ecosystems where they come from!
4. Support groups who are making a difference

Thanks!

An endangered species success story. Have you ever seen a California Condor? I saw my very first one (and my gave me big congratulations) at Pinnacles National Park a few months ago. What a spectacular place!
It is so worth it, even with the crowds. The condor was on the brink of extinction because of DDT and lead poisoning and loss of habitat but intense captive breeding have enabled them to be reintroduced and they are slowly recovering. Not out of the woods but better. Let’s do more of this. —B

A few plant friends I met on a walk in the Santa Cruz mountains. I love finding native plants on my hikes. It reminds me that there are still some places that are not yet covered in Ivy and Oxalis. The biodiversity is still thriving. 😉💕

Where do you like to hike and is it still pristine?

Did you recognize the poison oak?

Do you know the trick about identifying Douglas Fir cones? ( it looks like there are rats running into them!
