Your beauty doesn’t come from makeup, it comes from YOU!

The way I see it—makeup is just another accessory. A tool in the kit you get to play with to tell the story of you. It can be a way to play, shape-shift, amplify the creativity swirling around inside you…something that makes YOU feel good. It isn’t about being molded or shaped by the eyes of others or fitting into a cultural imperative—it’s about you being you and discovering what activates your aliveness.

I find it changes all the time. From the season to season, day to day. Sometimes I want to get dressed to the nines and wear sparkles everywhere, while others I feel best with a nourishing skincare and a bare face.

The point of it all is it’s YOUR choice. I know that’s not the way the beauty industry has ever talked to you before. It seems more like it’s their way or the highway and if you wanna fit in you better get on board with whatever trends they’re selling at the moment. BUT what if that wasn’t the only way? What if there was another way to explore what beauty is and what it means for you and your self-expression. This is what we explore in my 1:1 Soulful Beauty Sessions.

My ‘dearheart,’ letters began about 5 years ago. I was journaling and out of nowhere a thought popped up: “what would happen if I got up everyday and asked my heart what it needed?” What began as a desire to repair my critical relationship with my heart has since grown into an email series and now a book!

What I’ve discovered along the way is this: kind, loving words are water to the soil of our hearts. They nurture, nourish, and help us grow.

I’ve spent much of my life looking to people, places and things outside myself to water the garden of my heart (especially the words of others.) And though I would always appreciate kind words when they came, they often ended up being like v***r, disappearing back into the atmosphere and out of my grasp just as quickly as they came.

But, when I started to tune into my heart and we began dialoguing, those words ran deep and saturated my heart with peace and love. The truth of who I was laced inside the vibrations of each syllable inviting me to slow down and relish in my goodness.

In my experience we don’t need much help pointing out our flaws or where we could improve ourselves, but we do need reminding of the truth of who we were created to be. We need to be reminded that we are creators, we are the architects of our lives and the Divine that made us gave us gifts to enjoy and share.

And that is why I wrote this book—to remind us who we are and how deeply we are loved.

I wrote it for the tender-hearted dreamers who long to share their magic with joy and devotion.

I wrote it for those who long to keep playing no matter how old they are.

And, I wrote it for those who want to embrace their unique design and live with wild abandon.

These letters and poems started out as mine and now I offer them to you.

May they water the soil of your heart and bring you blooms of love, joy, compassion, creativity and beauty.
