Painful, heavy, unpredictable periods? Part of the answer might live somewhere you’d never think to check — your gut.

We’re taught to read our cycle as a pure hormone signal: heavy, light, regular, painful. But hormones don’t act alone. The state of your gut helps shape what your cycle actually feels like.

The link is your estrobolome — the gut bacteria that help metabolize estrogen and influence how much stays active in your body.

And estrogen runs much of the cycle. It builds the uterine lining in the first half and shapes how the whole month unfolds. So how your body handles estrogen matters for how your cycle behaves.

When your estrobolome is balanced, estrogen gets cleared and recirculated in the rhythm your body intends. When it’s disrupted, estrogen balance can shift — and for some women, that can track with heavier, more painful, or less predictable cycles.

The reframe: a hard cycle isn’t only a “hormone problem” to push through. Sometimes it’s your body pointing upstream — to the gut helping regulate those hormones in the first place.

Save this and read your next cycle a little differently. Share it with a woman who’s been told her hard periods are “just normal.”

The estrobolome might be the most important word in women’s health you’ve never heard.

It’s not an organ. It’s a community of bacteria living in your gut — and one of their jobs is helping decide how much estrogen stays active in your body.

When that microbial balance is working, estrogen gets cleared the way your body intends.

When it’s disrupted, estrogen can recirculate instead of clearing — which may show up as PMS, bloating, breast tenderness, irregular cycles, or mood swings. The symptoms feel hormonal because they are hormonal. The root just starts somewhere unexpected: your gut.

This is the connection most of us were never taught — that your gut and your hormones are in constant conversation.
Save this so you remember it.

Share it with a woman who’d want to know. And follow along for the gut-hormone science you were never taught.

Your hormones don’t exist in isolation — your gut health plays a huge role too.

One thing more women need to know about?

The estrobolome — the collection of gut bacteria involved in metabolizing and eliminating estrogen.

When the gut microbiome is disrupted, estrogen may not be processed properly, which can contribute to symptoms like:
acne, bloating, PMS, painful periods, mood swings, and other hormone imbalance symptoms.

This is why I focus so much on the gut-hormone connection with my clients and why I’ve been loving the Hormone Balance Probiotic.

It’s formulated to support the gut microbiome + hormone balance connection instead of just masking symptoms 🤍

The renaming of PCOS to PMOS has us hopeful that greater awareness of the gut-hormone connection and the estrobolome will help millions of women live healthier and feel better. 🕊️✨

Happy Earth Day 🌎!

All healthy ecosystems depend on balance—and the same goes for your gut microbiome! 🌱⚖️🦠

For women, when microbial diversity drops, so does your body’s ability to clear excess estrogen, manage stress hormones, and maintain cycle regularity.

We’re all about protecting our ecosystems—inside and out! 😎

Happy Earth Day 🌎 a good day to remember that healthy systems depend on balance.
Your gut microbiome works the same way. When microbial diversity drops, so does your body’s ability to clear excess estrogen, manage stress hormones, and maintain cycle regularity. Protect your inner ecosystem 🌱
