Don’t get me wrong, I’m still reeling from Friday’s abolishment of a woman’s reproductive rights in 1/2 of our country, but because we’re here to celebrate beauty, I’m reaching back into my well of optimism and sharing this ray of light.

But it must be shared and rooted on my page because I will not stay quiet about how wrong this is.

We are not a democracy when the minority’s vote wins. I will never agree to it.

We are not a democracy when rights are taken away.

We will never be a united state when the foundation of this country that was created to keep women, non-whites and non-heterosexuals beneath the foot of the founding fathers and their followers is still intact.

This has nothing to do with the rights of embryos. This has only to do with re-establishing their power over people. For them, 50 years was too long.
For them, 6 years, 11 months and 24 days is too long.
And lord knows for them, 157 years and 5 days is an unforgivable amount of time to have given freedom to Black Americans.

This week has been an atrocity of power and I am gutted. In the midst of so much beauty and love in the industry I’m gratefully a part of, today’s reality punches me in the gut and reverberates in my soul.

We have the best brides for us.

M + E wanted to look like themselves, just bumped a little more for their wedding. That’s what I describe as elevated. Not transformed. Who they are. And they are beautiful, proud women who were ready to make their commitment to each other official. Just in time for Pride Month.

I have many a loved one in the LGBTQ+ community and guess what? Each are deserving of a life lived unfettered, unquestioned, without judgement and without curiosity.
