The Psoas muscle...the lovely psoas muscle...the bane of my existence lately 🤔 It has four primary functions:
Flexion and lateral rotation of the thigh at the hip
Flexes the trunk at the hip
Flexes the trunk laterally
Because the psoas major is a postural muscle, that during standing, it stabilizes the vertebral column.
When the muscle is overloaded or static, trigger points can be formed causing referred pain to the low back, SI joint, groin, and/or quad.
Fun fact...did you know that the psoas muscle can be emotionally overloaded? 06/23/2023
