Everyone needs love. Desire is no different. She remains open even when her heart got stomped on. She remains open hoping that love will make its way to her. It does, but it turns out to be another disappointment. She desires love but she's going about it all wrong. It's not until she realizes easy doesn't always mean better.
Over time she realizes the relationships that last are the ones you had to fight tooth and nail to build. With this new knowledge she is forced to recognize only honesty and authenticity grants you the love and admiration she so desperately desires.

Her take no s*** attitude is attributed to going through so much at such an early age. Having to fend for her self before she was even legal to be in a club like the one she currently worked for.
Yes Mahogany was a rough one, but she was also beautiful. Thank God she looked nothing like what she'd been through. Experiencing an upbringing like hers was not for the weak. Many times she stayed cold and aloof when meeting new girls who frequented the club. But something about Desire aka Monique made her want to protected her.
Perhaps it was because she saw a lot of herself in Desire. Meaning there was a lot of innocence and childlike ways Desire possessed. She understood that Desire's exploitable ways would soon lead her into sticky situations. But she felt she could at least help guide her down the right path when ever the opportunities were given.

Living the fast life. Thinking she had everything figured out Desire aka Monique does what needs to be done to get what she wants. Thinking she had someone she could call her own quickly backfires and she’s on the prowl once again, looking for love and wanting her happily ever after. Has she found the one she’ll spend forever with or is the dating pool polluted like so many say?

Walking out from the bathroom, hoping Mahogany didn't see the hurt written all over her face; Desire tried to act like everything was okay, but Mahogany saw right through her thin layer of smiles.

"I know. I'll tell you later. It's to many ears and eyes in here. I don't need nobody else in my business."

"Really?! Where?"

"Whoa! Simmer down. You really like him, huh?"

"Yeah, and I can’t even tell you way.... I guess you could say that his aura is attractive, because I don't know enough about him to say more than that."

"And I'm sure it doesn't hurt that he's fione, and got a little coin."

"Oh yeah, that too. But there are fine men I speak to everyday. No, there’s something else about him that’s got me going in circles."

"Bitch, please! You know that's what attracted you to him."

"Maybe at first, but after talking to him for a little while, He just made me feel.... you know?"

"No. I don't know."

"He made me feel..... normal."

"Normal?"

"Yeah. For that short time, he made me feel like a regular girl, not a stripper."

"What's wrong with being a stripper?"

"Nothing. I'm just saying; as he talked to me he looked in my eyes not at my body. For a minute I forgot I was sitting there talking to him half naked."

In all honesty the whole idea of going school shopping with her Aunt's boyfriend made her a little uncomfortable and afraid. She wasn't quite sure why, but she knew it didn't feel right.
