103 years old Bunong Indigenous woman from Cambodia ❤️🙏 The portrait was never published before.

This is a portrait of 103 years old Da Kverl. Da is the oldest living elder of Bunong Indigenous People of Cambodia.. I photographed her in Burang Village, Orang District, Mondulkiri Province of Cambodia. Da Kverl was born and has been living there all her life, working on her Indigenous community land. From a young age Da had healing hands abilities and could fix joints of spine injuries. Local people often travelled to see her from other remote villages. Most people in the area also know her as a person who helped deliver babies to many local women (there were no doctors or clinics in the area). Da's own life was quite tragic. Due to hard living conditions during the Vietnam War and years of Pol Pot dictatorship in Cambodia afterwards, she lost 4 out 5 of her own children. Her husband also passed away in 1973. She never got married again. Nevertheless, Da Kverl found her strength and purpose in helping her people. She kept helping local women to deliver many babies and happiness to the Bunong Indigenous People families. "Always stay positive, she says, no matter what happens. I am wishing you all peace and happiness".
