Well the baby is in occiput posterior position ... what about it?

Normaly when babies are born they are facing the mother's back so that during the labor they can fit snuggly in the pelvis where they tuck their chin onto their chest (smaller diameter of the head is being delivered first)

But, during occiput posterior the baby is facing the mother's abdomen and the baby's back is directly on the mother's back. The larger diameter of the baby's head is being delivered first which needs to pass thru the pelvis. This labor tends to be slower and more painful.

🩸Adult Haemoglobin (HbA) vs 🩸 Fetal Haemoglobin (HbF)

Red blood cells contain haemoglobin in order to bind oxygen and carbon dioxide. There are three common types of haemoglobin in humans:

🩸 Embryonic haemoglobin
🩸 Fetal haemoglobin
🩸 Adult haemoglobin

Fetal hemoglobin (HbF) is the form of hemoglobin that is dominant during fetal life and is also markedly increased in concentration for several weeks after birth.

HbF is a form of haemoglobin which has a stronger oxygen affinity than adult hemoglobin, this increases oxygen transport to the fetus within the uterus by capturing oxygen from the placental vasculature which has much lower oxygen tension than in the lungs. The decline in its production by about 6 months after birth reduces oxygen exchange between the blood vessels and other parts of the body, including the brain.

🍃AKA PIGMY TRIBE🍃

The Aka or Bayaka(also BiAka, Babenzele) are a nomadic Mbenga pygmy people. They live in southwestern Central African Republic and the Brazzaville region of the Republic of the Congo.

Fathers of the Aka tribe spend more time in close contact to their babies than in any other known society. Aka fathers have their infant within arms' reach 47% of the time and make physical contact with them five times as often per day as fathers in some other societies. Babies do not touch the ground for their first year of life and are never put in another room to sleep.

There are no gender roles in this tribe. Throughout the day, couples share hunting, caring for babies, food preparation, and social and leisure activities.

Aka fathers are also know to offer their ni***es to soothe their babies when their mothers are not around.

Children are the center of the Aka society and are progressive when it comes to gender norms.

Imagine the possibilities of birth and parenting if we can push down the barriers that we have created in our own society.......

Being a midwife does not enclose you in maternal and child care..here in Fatima they also get to be trained on how to organize a seminar that would help in building their confidence in communicating and speaking in front of an audience :)

Before exposing our midwifery students in their duties we make sure they are equipped with knowledge and skills;they will be first trained inside the classroom and simulation rooms in order to practice and master relevant skills they would need in their duties :)
