3 days Orientation | Katarungang Pambarangay✨

To enhance knowledge and improve the ability to effectively resolve cases referred to the Lupong Tagapamayapa in the administration of Barangay Justice, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte, successfully organized a 3-day orientation on Peace Promotion, Child-Friendly, Gender-Responsive, and Culture-Sensitive Katarungang Pambarangay. The event was held from July 14-16 at Minkay Resort in Initao, Misamis Oriental.

On Day 1, our LGOO VI/MLGOO, DILG SND, Ma'am Princess Mae L. Monteron, began the activity by presenting the rationale and the concept of creating a Safe & Brave Space. In Part 1, Ma'am Monteron discussed the importance of preserving Lupon Records through effective Records Management. In Part 2, she also covered effective strategies for using social media to promote the Barangay Justice System, with the goal of strengthening its social media presence.

On Day 2, our LGOO VII/Cluster Head, Ma'am Mary Jean Y. Quibranza, led an insightful session on the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) and the Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA). She thoroughly discussed the KP forms, providing a clear understanding of their structure and function. Additionally, she also discussed the KP flowchart, fucosing on the processes involved. Ma'am Quibranza also emphasized the significant benefits and incentives for the Lupon Tagapamayapa, showcasing how these awards recognize and motivate barangay officials for their outstanding contributions. To wrap up the session, she discussed the LTIA criteria and guidelines to help every participants were well-informed on the standards for eligibility and evaluation.
In the afternoon, our LGOO VI/Chief of Staff, Engr. Abulcair D. Lindao, JD, discussed Alternative Dispute Resolution, focusing on understanding conflict, the stages of mediation, the fundamentals of mediation, and communication in mediation.

On Day 3, Assistant Provincial Prosecutor of Lanao del Norte, Atty. Samairah C. Maba, delivered a general orientation on Katarungang Pambarangay, emphasizing key topics such as the constitution of the Lupon, the processes of mediation, conciliation, and arbitration, as well as the rules on venue and jurisdiction. She also discussed the classification of criminal, civil, and other cases covered under the Katarungang Pambarangay system.

The activity was actively participated in by the Punong Barangays, Barangay Secretaries, and Lupon Members from the 37 barangays of Sultan Naga Dimaporo. Throughout the event, participants engaged in various exercises and review sessions designed to reinforce their understanding and ensure the practical application of the lessons learned.

The program was successfully conducted in a comprehensive and conducive learning environment, allowing participants not only to gain valuable knowledge about Katarungang Pambarangay but also to enjoy the experience through meaningful interaction and shared learning.
