WHAT CAUSES ACNE?

Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and sometimes bacteria.

Increased Sebum Production: Hormonal changes (such as during puberty or menstruation) increase the production of sebum (skin oil) from sebaceous glands, leading to oily skin.

Clogging of Hair Follicles: The excess sebum, along with dead skin cells, can clog hair follicles. This creates an ideal environment for bacteria, particularly Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), to thrive.

Inflammation: The accumulation of sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria can cause inflammation in the hair follicle. This leads to the formation of redness, swelling, and the characteristic pimples or pustules.

Bacterial Infection: P. acnes bacteria can further aggravate the inflammation, breaking down sebum and creating more irritation.

Lesion Formation: Over time, this process leads to the formation of different types of acne lesions such as whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, and cysts.

In summary, acne is caused by a combination of excess oil production, clogged pores, bacterial activity, and inflammation.

Key Ingredient
Azelaic Acid, has powerful anti-inflammatory properties to soothe skin. Reduces the production of keratin which can lead to blocked pores and breakouts.

Best Way To Use
Apply two to three drops to face, neck and décolletage once or twice daily. Introduce this product slowly starting with three times a week for two weeks. Move to every application every second day for two weeks, then apply every day. May be used alone or layered with a serum or moisturiser. It takes a minimum of 8 - 12 weeks to see results.
