It’s a cosmetic skin needling procedure that promotes and accelerates natural skin regeneration and rejuvenation. The cosmetic procedure is done by using a specialized medical device, called a micro-needling pen. This Pen has a needle cartridge attached, containing small, fine, sterilized needles. Microneedling promotes the production of collagen and elastin. These are essential skin proteins that drastically slow down after the age of 27. Because of this, skin cell division also slows down. Skin cell division is the skin function responsible for shedding old skin cells and replacing them with new ones. Skin needling not only promotes a firmer, more toned skin but also treats dark spots, pigmentation, large pores, stretch marks, acne, and surgical scarring. How long does it take? The first stages of skin renewal will start showing within 2 - 4 weeks, with its full effect visible after about 12 weeks. After which the skin will continue to improve. How many treatments will I need? This depends on the severity of your skin condition, we recommend you speak to our therapist as she will be best to advise you on the amount of treatments required, tailored to your needs and body. On average we recommend 4 to 6 sessions. This gives the skin enough time to make real progress with renewing itself and creating enough collagen and elastin to give long-lasting results. For harder to treat issues like deep scarring, you may need up to eight sessions depending on the conditions of your skin. Will it hurt? Unlike chemical peels and surgery, microneedling is minimally invasive and a great way to improve the health of the skin. The procedure isn’t overly painful, it feels like a cat is licking your hand. For highly sensitive skin, numbing cream is used to minimize discomfort. Are there side effects? You may experience some skin redness and irritation after a treatment but this will disappear within 24 hours after treatment. There are no long-term side effects. Only health benefits for your skin.
