Back to me healing
Jolandi Jordaan Kuhn founder of Back to Me Healing. Helping women reclaim themselves after motherhood, betrayal, and survival mode.
Mom of 4 boys passionate about raising wise men, nervous system healing, and breaking generational cycles.
Episode 10 | The hardest part wasn't what he did...
For a long time, I thought healing meant getting over what someone else had done to me.
I was wrong.
The hardest part wasn't the betrayal.
It wasn't the lies.
It wasn't the manipulation.
The hardest part was facing the version of myself that had slowly stopped trusting her own voice.
The woman who ignored her intuition. Who kept hoping instead of accepting. Who stayed because she believed love meant sacrificing herself.
That was the part I had to grieve.
Healing isn't just about forgiving someone else.
It's about rebuilding the relationship you have with yourself.
It's learning to trust your instincts again.
To honour your boundaries.
To stop abandoning yourself for the sake of keeping the peace.
Because the day you start believing yourself again...
Everything changes.
🤍 Your journey back to you starts by trusting yourself again.

How we allow people to treat us isn't something we decide overnight.
It's something we slowly teach them.
Sometimes we teach people it's okay to disrespect us because we're afraid of conflict.
Sometimes because we were taught that being "easy-going" made us lovable.
Sometimes because we've spent so many years surviving that we've forgotten we're allowed to have boundaries.
I know this because I lived it.
I laughed things off. I said, "It's okay," when it wasn't. I over-explained. I ignored my intuition. I accepted behaviour that slowly chipped away at my self-worth.
Not because I was weak.
Because I didn't yet know what healthy love looked like.
Healing isn't about becoming harder.
It's about becoming clearer.
Clear about what you deserve. Clear about what you'll no longer tolerate. Clear about the fact that protecting your peace isn't selfish it's necessary.
The moment you stop teaching people that your boundaries are optional... everything begins to change.

Which one of these seven do you struggle with the most? I'd love to hear from you in the comments.
🎬 Netflix Documentary Coming Soon...
If someone had told me a few years ago that I'd be rebuilding my life while raising four energetic boys, writing a book, building a business, coaching incredible people, and somehow trying to drink a hot cup of coffee... I probably wouldn't have believed them.
Some days are beautifully chaotic.
Some days are exhausting.
Some days I wonder if I'll ever sit down for five uninterrupted minutes. 😂
But this chapter has taught me something I'll never forget...
Healing doesn't happen once life gets quiet.
It happens right in the middle of the noise.
And one day, I'll look back at this season with so much gratitude not because it was easy, but because it showed me just how strong I really was.

No child needs a perfect mother.
They need a mother who remembers who she is.
The way we speak to ourselves... The way we allow others to treat us... The way we care for our own hearts...
Our children are watching all of it.
They don't only learn from what we say. They learn from what we model.
Healing isn't selfish. Setting boundaries isn't selfish. Choosing yourself isn't selfish.
Because every time you choose yourself with love... You're giving your children permission to do the same.
The greatest gift we can give the next generation isn't perfection.
It's breaking the cycles we never asked to inherit.
🤍 Back To Me Healing
What cycle are you determined to break for your children?
Our children are always watching.
Not just what we say.
But how we speak to ourselves.
How we respond to stress.
How we treat people.
How we set boundaries.
How we love.
For a long time, I thought being a good mom meant doing everything for my boys.
Now I realise something different.
One of the greatest gifts I can give them is a mother who is healing.
A mother who apologises when she's wrong.
A mother who chooses peace over chaos.
A mother who respects herself enough to show them what healthy love looks like.
My boys probably won't remember me doing my makeup.
But I hope they'll remember watching a woman who slowly found her way back to herself.
Because one day, they'll choose partners.
And I hope the way I lived teaches them to choose kindness, respect, emotional safety, and love.
Healing isn't just changing my life.
It's changing the legacy I leave behind.

One of the hardest parts of emotional manipulation isn't what someone says to you.
It's what you start saying to yourself.
"Maybe I'm overreacting."
"Maybe it's my fault."
"Maybe I'm remembering it wrong."
Slowly, you stop trusting your own thoughts, your own feelings, and your own intuition.
That's why healing isn't just about leaving.
It's about rebuilding your relationship with yourself.
Learning to believe your own experience again.
Learning to trust your own instincts again.
Learning that your reality doesn't need someone else's permission to be true.
🤍 Which slide resonated with you the most?
"What if nobody believes me?"
I think this is one of the biggest fears women carry when they're thinking about leaving.
Not...
"Can I survive on my own?"
But...
"Will anyone believe what I've lived through?"
Especially when the abuse wasn't physical.
When it was years of being told you were too sensitive.
Too emotional.
Too demanding.
Too difficult.
When you slowly started questioning your own memories, your own feelings, and eventually... your own reality.
The truth is, not everyone will understand your story.
Not everyone will believe it.
And that's incredibly painful.
But healing begins the moment you stop asking other people to validate what you already know happened.
Your experience matters.
Your pain matters.
Your reality matters.
You don't need a jury of people to give you permission to trust yourself again.
Sometimes the bravest thing you'll ever do is believe yourself first.

One of the biggest lies we believe is that we wake up one day and suddenly lose ourselves.
We don't.
It happens gradually.
One boundary we don't set.
One red flag we explain away.
One moment we silence ourselves to keep someone else comfortable.
That's why healing isn't one big breakthrough either.
It's choosing yourself...
Again.
And again.
And again.
Every boundary.
Every honest conversation.
Every decision that brings you closer to who you truly are.
That's how you find your way back.
