𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲

Health Promotions under 𝐌𝐮𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 conducted two important engagements today at 𝗠𝗼𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿, one of the district’s key 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 (𝐏𝐨𝐄), aimed at strengthening preparedness and response against potential public health threats.

📌 Meeting 1: A sensitization meeting was held with Mokambo Border Agents focusing on Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) awareness, prevention measures, early detection, and the importance of coordinated response efforts at the border.

📌 Meeting 2: The district received a monitoring and assessment team comprising representatives from World Health Organization (WHO), Zambia National Public Health Institute, and Copperbelt Provincial Health Office Discussions centered on evaluating key measures being implemented to raise Ebola awareness, assessing the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the isolation room, and highlighting the critical role played by Immigration and Zambia Revenue Authority staff in epidemic preparedness, information dissemination, and case tracking at the Point of Entry.

These engagements reaffirm our commitment to strengthening surveillance systems and ensuring our borders remain vigilant in safeguarding public health.

Mufulira District Health Office, in collaboration with Kawama East Mini Hospital, today held a 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 aimed at addressing the challenges and dangers associated with 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.

The meeting provided a platform for community members to share possible reasons why some expectant mothers choose to deliver from home instead of seeking skilled care at health facilities. Health education was conducted by 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒕 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒓 (𝑴𝑪𝑯 𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓) 𝑴𝒔. 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒂 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂, with support from 𝑲𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒎𝒂 𝑬𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒊 𝑯𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒇𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕.

The engagement was highly interactive and productive, resulting in the formation of a 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒆 that will work closely with the hospital management to strengthen maternal and child health services and address other community health concerns.

Together, we can promote safe motherhood and healthier communities.

Today, Mufulira District Health Office convened a stakeholders' meeting at the Mufulira Municipal Council Chambers to deliberate on critical public health matters affecting the district.

The meeting focused on strategies for 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, preparedness and response measures regarding the 𝐄𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐚 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤, and planning for the upcoming 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 scheduled for the month of June.

Stakeholders from various sectors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration, enhancing community awareness, and supporting interventions aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of our communities.

Together, we can build a healthier and safer Mufulira through collective action and shared responsibility.

Mufulira District Health Office today joined the rest of the world in commemorating 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 𝐍𝐎 𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐎 𝐃𝐀𝐘 under the theme:

"𝐔𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 – 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧."

As part of the commemoration, a sensitisation campaign was conducted in 𝑲𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒐𝒚𝒐 - 𝑴𝒖𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒊𝒓𝒂, aimed at raising awareness on the harmful effects of ni****ne and to***co use on individual and community health.

Community members were educated on the dangers associated with to***co consumption, including its link to cancer, heart disease, stroke, respiratory illnesses, and addiction. The campaign also emphasized the importance of preventing young people from initiating to***co use and encouraged current users to seek support in quitting.

Together, we can build a healthier and to***co-free future by making informed choices and protecting ourselves, our families, and our communities from the dangers of ni****ne and to***co.
