Tips to Help Relieve Picky Eating in ASD Kids
• Start with sensory play: let the child touch, smell, or explore foods without pressure.
• Keep mealtime routine predictable—same time, place, and calm environment.
• Offer new foods beside familiar ones, in tiny portions, without mixing textures.
• Use “food chaining”: slowly change what they already like (same food, new shape or brand).
• Avoid pressure—no forcing or “just one bite.” Praise small steps like smelling or touching.
• Support sensory needs: noise-canceling headphones, weighted lap pad, or chew tools if needed.
• Give limited choices: “Apple or banana?” “Blue plate or green?”
• Use visuals: simple “first–then” boards or photo menus.
• Eat with them and model without telling them to try.
• Celebrate micro-progress: touching, licking, or simply staying at the table longer.

Special needs kids handling tips.
A special-needs mother carries an extraordinary emotional load, making her mental well-being just as important as the care she provides. Improving mental wellness begins with giving yourself permission to rest _short, meaningful breaks can refresh your mind and prevent burnout. Building a support network, whether through family, friends, or parent groups, creates a safe space to share challenges and victories. Practicing simple self-care habits like mindful breathing, journaling, or a daily walk can help calm stress and increase resilience. Most importantly, recognize your own strength and celebrate the small wins; nurturing your mental well-being is not a luxury, but a vital part of being the best version of yourself for your child and for you.
Handling neurodivergant kid is not an easy task. So try not to judge parents with kids showing tantrums or on meltdowns.

Daily work sheets.
My son is my support I don't have house help do all by myself. Even he is nonverbal but understands all and always try to do something different.
My son is 6.8 years nonverbal neurodivegent asd ADHD. At the age of 3.5 years he was diagnosed with mild autism. We started his school with therapies of OT speech and behaviour . At start he was zero in everything no understanding no speech hitting behaviour and high sensory seeking . After 3 years of continuous work with him he is now much better at understanding and diaper free. His younger one is almost 4.6 years and supporting him too much . Genuinely, I would say his contribution is 100% for helping his brother to be potty trained. They both play now and share toys . For the special needs kids it's very important to love or spend time with normal kids and go out on a daily basis. My son was hitting and biting other kids . But I never felt ashamed for his behaviour and keep taking him out now he is much better stopped bitting and hitting both. I would request plz keep taking out your kids and gadget free it took me too much time for making zero screen time but I am successful now. He follows the commands and understands whatever we say the name responding all going well. I need support for the success in my son's autism journey.
