The quiet work before surgery is where precision begins.
A ganglion cyst may look concerning, especially when it appears clearly on the wrist.
But visibility alone does not decide treatment.
In hand surgery, the more important questions are:
Is it painful?
Is it limiting wrist movement?
Is grip affected?
Has it returned repeatedly?
Some cysts can simply be observed. Others may need aspiration or removal, depending on symptoms, location, and how the wrist is functioning.
The decision should be based on the wrist, not only the lump.
