This week was the start of, one more step back to normal in the salon since the start of this unprecedented global pandemic .
While we still adhering to strict policy and procedures around cleaning , Sanitization and how people present health wise , we are tentatively excited about our next steps forward.
A big shout out to the salons on the eastern states that are still having to adhere to many rules, we are thinking of you and how tricky this time is in business.

Through the last couple of months it’s made me realise even more how important team culture is in our business and how much my team has craved NORMAL.
As the leaders of our business we do have to carry a lot on our shoulders and keep uplifted for our team, remember in our role we don’t have the luxury of having a bad day.

So to steady the team and make them feel safe ,secure and start to work towards a purposeful future we have started to get back to normal where we can .

STAFF MEETINGS , This is so important because it gives us time, face to face to talk about any doubts and worries our staff have but for us as leaders to talk about our plan going forward . Team snacks and adding something interesting into the mix like a new technique or product .
We also shared at our last staff meeting ,what did you learn when we where in ISO?

STAFF TRAINING , This week we started back staff training and my apprentices where so excited to do there first 1/2 head of foils on a live model.

HOT CHIPS, Random day of ordering hot chips for the team because this makes their bellies happy.

In South Australia , pubs have opened up so we have booked a team dinner .

This has been one of the most challenging times in my salon owning life, as I’m sure it has been for you all of you .

Just looking back at this, i did this a few years ago at an incredible course Mandy and I did, the Kerwin Rae, nail it and scale it course, in Sydney. The course was over a few days and covered so many topics. One area we covered was about pushing your mind and body, to explore just what we might be capable of. Our homework for one of the nights was to create an e book. This little e book was done between the hours of 9pm and 4am and certainly needs some work but i did get it done and wanted to share it.

Ok, not sure i like the bit about the poor little lamb but an interesting article.
Have you thought about what things might look like by the end of September? Will your business be trading at 100% , will you have extra deferred debt to pay? We are trying to think what every path might look like and how we will tread, this certainly helps me sleep at night, i feel like we have a few things covered. Of course Covid is a hot topic right now and by no means am i suggesting we should become complacent BUT.....
We just had our first in salon (zoom was fun but nothing beats face to face) meeting and we decided to FOCUS on what we need to be doing to get back on track and start hitting our goals.
We revisited, our targets, customer service, apprentice trainings, team presentation and shared our updated business plan.
We move towards the things we focus on, now more than ever, that should be our business and our business goals.

WOW, what a crazy and difficult couple of months we have all just been through.
I must admit, for a brief moment i just wanted to curl up at the end of my bed, pull my covers up and wait for it all to pass. Thankfully i knew this was not the attitude that would help get us through and like many business owners, we have people who are relying on us and looking to us for direction. It was difficult to know what was going to happen, would we close, would we be ordered to close, this made it very hard to make a plan. As you all know, we credit our business success, to having a STRONG and CLEAR plan. That was what we turned to to get through, we closed for three weeks, made a plan around that, and during the time off, we made a plan around getting back to business. Now more than ever, we are drawing on all our resources to help plan and navigate our way through this.
