What I really wanted for years in my practice was a fully organic, herbal, earth-based and non synthetic treatment mask that would accelerate and expand upon what is already possible by the human hand, without shifting out of the devotional paradigm of my work. I wanted all of this, plus no outrageous wholesale agreement, crippling MOQ’s, inflated prices, rigid protocols or gate keeping from the formulator/ brand. It didn’t exist, it turns out so many more in the industry also wanted that and SomaCeutical started to be formed, based on several different treatment masks that have been buzzing around the market for a while but inaccessible to us that work solo or do not subscribe to the old model of overworking and therefore giving our clients less of a deep experience.

A humbly small yet growing collection of therapists that inspire me so much, that want to add a powerful detoxifying and blood oxygenating treatment to their already impressive body of work. 🦋 Avoid clay masks in the winter + ion exchange and heavy metals 🦋 ~ I completely retire all my clays in the winter time. Your typical clay mask is kaolin or bentonite and are usually mixed with water or creams to form a paste that we were taught to leave on the skin to dry.

It’s the they have the amazing benefit of providing ion exchange topically. This means that they do a little trade with the skin - giving sodium, calcium and potassium cations and replacing them on the clays surface with the heavy metal cations. But this process takes a lot of water, and if you’re not into your skincare ingredients you wouldn’t know that the evaporation of water from the clay mask is very fast, so the water required for this process is coming directly from your skin!

We are combatting dehydration all year round, with poor electrolyte availability in our body, but in winter our body starts to pull oil reserves inwards and this leaves the water in our skin even more vulnerable to evaporation. Adding clay to that mix will create water loss in your skin barrier and cells!

These facts are why I created SomaCeutical to be completely different… still an extremely effective mask for ion exchange (in fact much more effective than clay), but not containing any clay (zeolite is technically not a clay). Instead it creates a vacuum seal around the skin that allows the water and water soluble herbal actives in the mask to quickly absorb into the skin to aid this process and avoid evaporation. This is part of why you get the beautiful demonstration of oxygenated blood flow in the capillaries after SomaCeutical (pictures 2+3).

In winter some really juicy and much more supportive household ingredients to paste onto your skin are~

Or if you really love your clay mask - make sure you keep it wet the entire time you have it on! This means you will save the skin from water depletion and actually aid more ion transfer - i.e. more heavy metal detoxification!

Start of Virgo season had me obsessing over cleaning every little crevice and crack of my treatment room, organising my raw ingredients and making about 10 new formulas for my new Aggy clients. Different skin expressions up here compared to the Sunshine Coast and it's quite wonderful to have that curiosity and detective in me cracked open again. Spending 40% of the day in the sunshine and being mostly on tank water calls for some new remedies as compared to the common expressions I was seeing due to artificial light, pollution and hard tap water. There are also different emotional expressions... which I have felt is because of how this land really makes you face yourself. It's easiest to hide in your shadow in the cities with so much stimulation and instant gratification. There's no pathway to your true self quite like the one that makes you feel unattractive, especially for a woman. When the skin goes crazy we really see the unhealed parts of ourselves. Not just the physical stuff. I've changed things around in my little room and it feels like somewhere in between a cave and a palace.

The water element births winter, and for winter skin rituals using ultrasound is one of my favourite ways to activate the skin cells. Ultrasound is sounds waves that work with the liquid in your skin, essentially sending pulses through it that allow for cell energy to be produced and structured water molecules to move deeper into the skin layers to hydrate from a depth. ❤️

This, my delicious sisters, is how it works. The energetic creates the unseen, the unseen creates the emotional, the emotional creates the physical and the physical creates the seen.

From the deep well of your vital force - your root chakra - your kundalini - your connection to dao - your waters - whatever you call it… from this place the seed is sown and it lays roots within you and your environment.

It travels through your energetic pathways, your organs, your memories… to create a beautiful stem that reaches tall to the sun.

At this point if a company needs to use the cruelty free logo to sell their products I just think what a load of bullsh!t. No company should be formulating something at this point in our evolution that would be subject to totally flawed and non-transferable animal abuse to determine whether or not it is safe. We have thousands of years of lineage and herbalism to tell us what is safe. And the ingredients their are sporting were usually ALREADY TESTED on animals several years ago to get approved under a flawed and corrupted sub of the pharm industry… so they can use them now because apparently they are “safe for humans” - coz a specially bred rat in a lab didn’t display major issues after a few months of torture. This happened with essential oils too. This just provides another Avenue of trickery and virtue signally in “self care” marketing. Let your intuition guide you.

For those who are new here… we do offer virtual consultations in addition to our ceremonial skin and body treatments. We do things differently and much is revolved around the amazing art of reading faces.
