PART 2 My Grey Hair Journey ...

This morning I shared my journey about letting go dyeing my hair to allowing my grey hair to feature.

It was time!

Since 2015, I've tried a few times to make the change-over but hated it!

Now I'm embracing it and loving the progression.

During the change over, my hair has miraculously remained glossy.

But the texture has changed with age and to crinkled.

My natural grey is shining through and overtaking the, half cream and apricot shades on the bottom half.

I was worried about turning grey because my tattooed eyebrows were recently refreshed and dark.

I'm happy with it and looking forward to the next step of "painting on" my blue grey colour as the grey hairs take over!

Since menopause, my hair has taken on a frizzy, crinkled texture and I've learned to live with it!

I've chosen to keep my hair long and when it's stronger with a few inches of healthy root hair, I'll add grey/silver hair extensions.

I can't wait for that step especially making my own extensions and dyeing them - exciting times ahead!

My journey to grey starts here...

Time for Colour Correct!

After 6 years of colour on colour: blue, black, dark brown, auburn, bleached blonde, red and the list goes on!

Decided I'd had enough and embraced my greys!

I needed to colour correct as I had no virgin hair.

Started stripping my loaded colours out by preparing my hair with Wella Hair Repair - it is amazing!

12 weeks ago I started the process bleaching my hair with 20 vol and powder bleach.

To reach the desired outcome I required, I uplifted twice more with 6% then followed with 3%.

This allowed my greys to show on the top of my Scalp while blending my original growth which is still dark brown.

I reached a pale apricot on the ends.

This followed with 8 weeks of intensive hair repair.

Today, I used 081 SPS Silver Blue Grey and 20 Vol to reach my new colour grey.

Adding blue helps cancel the orange and brightens up the white blending with my grey on top with the orange ends toned down.

Conditioning with Joico K-Pak Rivitalisant regularly.

Weekly shampoo using Matrix Brass Off blue shampoo.

Focussing now on maintaining my hair health.
