You know that feeling you get when you step outside on a sunny day and the warmth of the sun hits your face? It's like a big, warm hug from nature.
But did you know that the same sun that gives us life is also causing damage to our bodies?
That's right. The same sun that gives us life is also causing damage to our bodies.
The reason for this is simple: there are free radicals in the air around us, causing oxidative stress on our cells every single day.
When free radicals attach themselves to our cells, they create all kinds of havocβand it can lead to illness and aging!
Luckily, there's a way to protect yourself from this damage: antioxidants!
What are Antioxidants? They are molecules that fight off oxidative stress and free radical damage.
What is oxidative stress? This is the damage to our cells caused by - you guessed it! - free radicals!
What are free radicals? They are molecules (or atoms or ions) that are basically unbalanced with oxygen attached. They go in search of other cells to attach to and that can lead to damage, illness and aging. Free radicals are naturally forming in our bodies and our bodies can normally deal with them.
But sometimes we will have excessive free radicals that can cause damage and illness aka oxidative stress. Things like air pollution, exposure to toxins like dyes, stress, and poor diet can increase free radical levels.
By using Antioxidants topically in our skincare and making sure we have them in our diets we can help to protect our cells from damage.
Of course this list of antioxidants isn't complete but it's a great start!

π The skin normaliser aka Vitamin A aka Retinoids aka Retinol, Retinaldehyde, Retinoic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate & Retinyl Acetate. π
Vit A is essential for our skin health and normalising cell behaviour.
A member of the retinoid family, vitamin A is an incredibly effective skincare ingredient that can help with a myriad of skin concerns and improve the overall health and vitality of your complexion. A super-promoting ingredient, it is able to work across multiple paths to clear up clogged pores and produce ultra-smooth skin, stave off acne, and boost collagen production for a more youthful appearance. π
Only recommended being used at nighttime via drip-feeding the skin (start slow 1 x a week may be enough at first!) with appropriate Sun Protection during the day.

Geranium Essential Oil is steam extracted from the Pelargonium Graveolens plant.
In 2007 it was actually studied and was found to have properties that are anti-bacterial, antimicrobial, and antiseptic so it is a very beneficial oil for angry, red, mildly acniac skins.
These studies also found that Geranium Essential Oil was great at reducing inflammation in skin.
Sounds like a winning ingredient in oily and acne skins!
Never use Essential Oils straight on the skin, while pregnant or feeding and seek advice from a professional.

Being able to feel when you need to stop is so a skill, how many people burn out?
It's Sunday night - time to rest.
Whatever hasn't been done today can be done tomorrow.
Can you see a theme here? After 23 years in business and wearing so many hats I have ended up a bit burnt out and then I had Aunty Rona come to stay, I just knew she would like hanging out with me and after 4 weeks she has almost left the building. So come along with me as I figure out how to not work 7 days a week!

I find it easy to get overwhelmed with all the social media and the internet has to offer. With all the notifications it can make the world far too loud and distracting. Feeling like you have to be ON all the time can be exhausting.
I took a little break recently and the interesting result has been not what I worried so much about (losing followers and sales) but my reels and tiktoks kept being shown to people so I haven't actually lost anything!
So, take a break from it and reconnect with yourself and what's important.
We can't wait to reconnect with you, but in the meantime, try these tips on how to disconnect.
βοΈ Turn off your phone for
π Log out of social media if you can't turn off your phone
πΎ Slip your shoes off and venture outside and feel the ground under your feet
π Take that bubble bath
π Apply your body lotion while your skin is still damp and massage it into the skin
Grapeseed Oil is extracted from the seeds of, you guessed it, grapes π and is a by-product of the wine industry. π·
Grapeseed is high in Vitamin E oil which is a natural anti-oxidant and can contribute to the reduction in free radical damage in the skin. We will get into free radicals another day!
Being a strong anti-oxidant means that there have been studies done on Grapeseed Oil that also indicate that it works as an anti-inflammatory to reduce damaged cells not only in the skin but also internally when used as an alternative to traditional oils.
As always, seek advice from a professional.

Vitamin C is a skin warrior, fighting free radicals that can lead to fine lines and wrinkles.
How? What is so special about Vitamin C?
Vit C is a water-soluble vitamin with a small enough molecular size to wiggle its way around the skin cells to reach the deeper layers of the skin to help:
π stimulate collagen + elastin fibres (hello firmer, smoother skin!)
πΎ super antioxidant to fight premature skin aging and pigmentation
π₯ acts as a thermal protector of your skin cells reducing UV heat damage to your skin cells
π works on reducing pigmentation to leave you with glowing skin

Sundays spent on self-care = a better week π
Even if you can do one thing on a Sunday (or whatever day you get off) just for you can make all the difference heading into a fresh new week.
Being the multitasker I am I usually end up meditating in a long shower with my exfoliating mask on, finishing by massaging in my night oil with a Gua Sha massage of the face, neck and hands/arms if I am feeling extra πββοΈ
