How did I end up here on Grand Final Sunday 😅🫠

We have been trialling an “urgent order” system.

It doesn’t mean that the “urgent orders” skips everyone waiting in the queue, this is most important for us! Instead it means that rather than me begging and harassing the team to get it done fast, we will now add an “urgent order fee” and IF one of the team
have capacity and want to do the job outside of regular working hours, there will be a fee charged.

For example last week, we had an urgent order come in and I had a spare human hair unit here, but the stylist week was already full… so the client agreed to pay for hours worked outside of her usual hours, in one case she was up working at 5am and another, at 9pm after her daughter went to bed, through til after midnight.

This week I helped a change of mind colour by travelling one hour each way to Renee, twice, so min four hours driving and over $40 in tolls, because we needed it changed by this weekend.

I have always done this for my clients at no fee, but it’s becoming a little bit too much, and I certainly have no right to ask the Team to work under too much pressure or outside of their usual hours, so I think it’s fair and very understandable… and a good policy for a growing business to implement.

It’s different for me because it’s my business, I won’t charge for being here quickly on a Sunday, I’m a small business who enjoys giving this special service to my Clients who are important to me, it’s very genuine and it’s just who I am, but if there’s driving and tolls involved, time away from designated family time (because I already work 60+ hours a week) it’s only fair to be paid. It’s not sustainable for my health, and everyone else who it impacts.

As we grow, our mantra is BETTER NOT BIGGER!!
So implementing all these extra services and making systems clear and understandable, so YAY.
So here’s the office hard launch… going forward any urgent or rushed orders will have to be applied for, and a minimum of $150 will apply, depending on the circumstances.
