The last morning of my Melbourne trip. It starts similar but different. Volitions and coffe but in a different spot. Dedication and consistency. This is what hones our greatness.

Coffee and volitions. Ordinarily I would be sitting on my deck watching the sun rise doing this. The second photo shows the dark luxurious wet that is Melbourne at 6.30 am. No sun in my eyes today

π¨πΌβπ» Tech Neck π¨πΌβπ»
We see it everyday in clinic. The effects that technology and poor posture are having on bodies big and small.
Tech neck refers to the build up of tension and poor posture as a result of rounded shoulders and holding the head forward when using phones, tablets and computers. When our chins drop to view our screens, we are causing changes to the spinal curve of the neck bringing pain, discomfort, tension and misaligment and eventually damage to ligaments and muscles.
According to a recent study, when the head is tilted 15 degrees forward, the effect is equal to 12 kg. By 60 degrees forward, the effect can reach up to 27 kgs!! Thatβs a heavy consequence for just looking at your phone.
Here's a few ways you can prevent tech neck:
π¨πΌβπ» Raise your screen to eye level. Whether that is holding a phone or tablet higher or putting your computer on a stand to raise it, this will help you from dropping your head
π¨πΌβπ» Keep your body moving. Exercise relieves stress and relaxes the body, not only does this benefit overall health but also helps relieve neck tension on the neck and shoulder muscles.
π¨πΌβπ» Take breaks. A digital detox or even time between usage periods can receive stringent on the neck muscles
π¨πΌβπ» Visit your chiropractor for an assessment, adjustment and advice

Often, we treat individuals who are experiencing pain and discomfort in a specific location that is caused by tension and misalignment in a different site to the pain. The human body is incredibly complex, an interconnected system of muscles, tissue and nerves leading to a necessity for tailored and personalised treatment from a qualified and experienced practitioner.
