Should you fake tan your face when getting your spray tan for the big day?!

Short answer - yes!

Let me explain 👇🏽

There are a couple reasons that I recommend including your face when getting that wedding day glow…
1. When/if your makeup wears off slightly (usually around the mouth) it is less noticeable if the skin underneath is still a similar colour to the rest of your body.
2. Fake tans have a chemical reaction to the ph balance of your skin, that’s why they turn out a little differently on each person. Your foundation also has a slight chemical reaction to your skin, this can be very challenging to match 100% to the body when the skin underneath has not had the same treatment.
3. The hairline…. When you’re having a spray tan, the tan will usually end up in your hairline around your face. Believe it or not this is a great thing for makeup because it helps to achieve a seamless blend from foundation - bronzer - hairline without looking too obvious. Without this the only way to achieve that blend is by taking makeup into the hairline and even the roots for some people. 8/10 this doesn’t look as clean and polished as we would like (especially if you’re a blonde). But the alternative is to have a white halo around the edges of your face, which may not be noticeable in person, but believe me when I say it can come out in your photos.

As always the choice is yours, I’m just here to help guide you and give you all the information I can so that you can make the best choice for you.

Ending verdict from me is to tan the face, and apply a sheet mask the next day to bring back hydration ✌🏼

Happy Friday 🎉

I thought it’s about time that I do a little post about me and let you all get to know me a little better 🙋🏻‍♀️

I don’t have many photos of myself because as a true creative I prefer being behind the camera, not in front of it 😅 However, I threw my partner under the bus with me in the last photo so you can all put a name to my face (and his too 😉).

I have been working in the industry for over 13 years with experience in beauty therapy, hair care, fragrance and of course makeup. As much as I love all aspects of the beauty-verse, makeup is definitely what makes my heart sing. As an artist I am flexible and adaptable, I don’t convey one particular style with my work because what I create is narrated by my clients. Feeling beautiful, confident and comfortable means (and looks) different to everyone and it is my goal to be the conduit that brings that ideal to life for each individual.

I strongly believe that makeup is the closest thing you can get to real-life magic. It’s transformative.

If there is anything else you would like to know about me, or my experiences please feel free to ask away 🙌🏼

⚠️ Why you shouldn’t be using Paw Paw ointment on your lips ⚠️

Have you ever noticed that the more you apply your lip balm, the more frequently you find yourself re-applying, all in pursuit of brief relief from dryness? Have you considered what exactly goes into the lip balm you're using?

For years, the beauty industry has heavily relied on petroleum-based components for various cosmetics due to their ability to create a barrier, sealing in moisture. Alarmingly, numerous 'natural' lip balms also contain petroleum, often undisclosed on the product labels. This is concerning for two main reasons:

Petroleum, a non-renewable resource, can be tainted with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Consequently, the European Union has classified petroleum as a carcinogen. PAHs in petroleum have also been associated with skin irritations and allergies.

Petroleum jelly does not possess healing properties; it merely forms a barrier on your lips, preventing air from drying them out. However, in the long run, this hinders the natural process of skin renewal, making lips more chapped. Consequently, individuals continue re-applying lip balm, perpetuating the cycle.

Interestingly, one of Australia's most popular lip balms, Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment, contains petroleum, with only a minuscule portion (4%) dedicated to the advertised active ingredient, fermented fresh paw paw.

So, what are the alternatives?

Numerous options exist to maintain supple and healthy lips. When choosing a lip balm, there are two non-negotiables:
1. Ensure it's not petroleum based.
2. Examine the complete ingredient list and beware of complex scientific names, indicating potentially harmful ingredients. Plant-based ingredients are often listed with both their botanical and common names, aiding in identification.

I personally love the Lanolips 101 Lip Balm - Its key ingredient Lanolin, is a naturally occurring humectant that is renowned for its deeply hydrating abilities. The structure of lanolin replicates the nature of nourishing oils in the skin, making it a rich, non-irritating hydrator on dry and cracked lips.

I hope this helps! Let me know what your favourite lip balm below xx

👀 BRIDAL TRIAL TIPS 👀

❕Wear a white top, this helps to envision how the makeup will balance on the day and if you have enough colour on your cheeks and lips.

❕If you plan on tanning on the big day, consider having a tan for your trial too. It can feel a little foreign to have a full face of makeup on if you usually tan up for big events. This again can make it hard to really judge how the makeup will look on your wedding day.

❕Don’t have your trial done for your hens. I know it can seem silly but often brides want to go a little heavier, or a little smokier on their hens night makeup. Remember we are trying to create your dream wedding day makeup so we can replicate and perfect it on the big day.

❕See if you can arrange to have your hair trial and makeup trial on the same day so you can see the whole look together. Why not even see if you can squeeze in a dress fitting as well!

Comment below if you’re a wifey and have any other trial tips for future brides! 🫶🏼

🗣️ 2024 BRIDES PSA 🗣️

Why you shouldn't wait to book your vendors for your wedding:
In the post-covid climate we're now thriving in, it is commonplace and necessary to book your Makeup Artist at least 8 months out from the big day (If your wedding is in peak season months such as March-May & September-October, then you’re getting lucky to find a vendor already). To avoid disappointment, most couples book 10-18 months in advance.

If hair, makeup, photography & florals etc. is a priority for you and you want the best of the best, choose wisely and book vendors ASAP!

If you’re wanting a makeup artist who:
