Did you know.... A way that nature can affect the brain is through the shapes you see. Things like ferns, seashells, snowflakes, ocean waves and clouds are all examples of natural objects with fractal features (a self repeating pattern or shape that varies in scales rather than exact repetition.)

There is some fairly in depth scientific research in to this involving looking at a person's brain activity via EEG and MRI scanning whilst they are viewing different types of fractals.

Results showed that fractals of a certain dimension of 1.3 (most fractals in nature occur between 1.3-1.5) provoked high alpha waves and beta waves, suggesting a relaxed but focused state, which has been argued by the researcher (Taylor. R.) could reduce stress levels.

Further research shows that our eyes are fractal themselves so when it views a fractal image, it 'locks in to place.' For this reason our eyes have evolved to respond to fractals in nature in order that we understand those fractals, more than man made shapes.

Interesting hey!? At a time when the human race may be experiencing a great deal of stress, perhaps it really is time to take notice of all of the stress busters mother nature provides for us. ❤️

One of my children was rather emotional and tired this morning, don't know if anyone can relate? 🤪. She started to talk really negatively to herself, saying that she was no good at this and that and that she didn't like herself . I know as an adult that when we start to forget the importance of our creation, it's so easy to spiral into a negative pattern of talking to ourselves in that way. This doesn't serve us. I now recognise when it's happening earlier on than i used to and thats only through practice.
One if my favourite things to do is called a 'focus wheel'. It comes from the brilliant Esther Hicks. The idea is you put your desire in the middle and then make 8-10 statements round the outside which are true to how you feel at the moment and in relation to your desire. This is realpy powerful for any issue and I'm so happy to be able to pass this skill on to my 11 year old! Let's prepare the next generation for self love, self belief and compassion for self and others. ❤

I love being in nature! It's not surprising really as nature is a natural healer for us. It soothes us, reduces our blood pressure and stress hormones.
