It’s been a long time coming folks but the day has arrived… Vanessa The Hairdresser is wrapping things up.

The last 3 years have been a tug-of-war in my head about what’s next for ME? As I approach this new decade of my life. I feel it’s time to say goodbye to Hairdressing & venture into the unknown.

I won’t miss the long hours on my feet, or the wear & tear on my body & hands. I will however miss YOU! - My clientele - you have all become my second family & without you I wouldn’t have been in business for as long as I have. Hairdressing is definitely a labour of love & I’m so honoured that you chose me to look after your hair needs.

Running my own business for the past 15years has been a huge love of mine & I’m so grateful for the flexible lifestyle I chose to create all the way back in 2008. It has allowed me to work from home & be there to support & raise my boys & not miss out on their milestones & achievements.

My boys are now 26 & 18 so you’ve not only seen my boys grow but I’ve seen your own families grow & it’s been a beautiful collective journey with lots of highs & lows. Births, deaths, marriages, broken hearts, tears, laughter & PURE JOY!

I want to thank you all for your loyalty, love & friendship. You have all, individually brought so much to my heart & I will be forever grateful & thankful for all your love, kindness & support. Each & every one of you have truly inspired me in different ways. You’ve all shared so many wonderful moments with me & I thank you for sharing & trusting in me 🙏💜

Throughout my hairdressing career I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with some amazing stylists, teachers & mentors. I’ve had the privilege to impart my knowledge with up & coming stylists teaching my trade. It’s hard to believe I’ve been flying solo in my own business for 15years. 35 years altogether in the hairdressing industry. S**t I must be getting old 😂

So what now? A completely different career path is about to begin! I start a new chapter 3/10 so there is still time with limited spaces to book in for 1 last hair do, however all appointments beyond 1/10…
I unfortunately will no longer be able to fulfil. I wasn’t expecting such a quick exit out of my field so I thank you for your understanding in this fast transition from hairdressing to new beginnings…

Good Morning I'm looking forward to seeing you soon & so is Hugo 🐾

Hugo has been in training so when you arrive I kindly ask that you please ignore him, no eye contact or talking to him. If he jumps just raise your knee & keep walking on in like he's not even there.

He's calmed down heaps from his strict training & my anxiety from him jumping all over my guests has somewhat eased…

As soon as Hugo is calm & shows good behaviour feel free to tell him to sit, praise & say hello to him. This will reinforce that he’s no longer the Boss of this house & it ain’t all about him 😂 it’s been a tough few weeks because he’s so darn cute, however his calmness along with your patience & understanding have made a huge difference in our house 🏡

For those of you that have a dog will understand where I’m coming from. It’s just as important to train the dog as well as your guests that come into your home. They’re just like kids that crave your attention & as good parents we don’t reward bad behaviour to our kids or doggos 🐾 💜

The transition from years of colouring & covering our grey hair to embracing our silver strands of wisdom that are well earned… this is a work in progress & has been 2 visits so far. I’m really happy with the amount of lift I’ve achieved from old stubborn colour to a really soft result. Pic 1. Approx 4inches of Regrowth showing a mix of silver & dark grey tones. Pic 2. Our inspo pic Pic 3. After our 1st stage of lightening the hair & removal of pigment Pic 4. 2nd visit of lightening followed by toning & trusting the process…to a really soft ashy silver result. Once her hair has recovered & given a chance to feel lived in & washed a few times we can go even deeper with our grey blue toner dream shade. There’s only so much you can do in a day…

I’ve broken my own rules on what I like to call unicorn 🦄 colours but hey that’s what being a hairdresser is all about. Rules are meant to be broken & how could I say no to this beautiful bride 👰🏼 to be 💚💚💚 I think I’ve missed my calling. What do you think? I had so much fun creating this stunning look. The shine the curls the varying shades of green. I’m in love 💚💚💚 💚💚💚

That’s a WRAP! Can you tell by my happy face 😃 scissors & tools ✂️ are down 🎨 colour has been abundantly splashed around with a blowdry or 2 😂 my feet are swollen & my hands are ready for eating & drinking 😆😂 2021 has been a year of UP’s & Downs HIGH’s & lows…but guess what? My cup is always half full! Thank you all for an amazing year in the salon. I’ve received some beautiful gifts of appreciation & I love you all for spoiling me 💜 I’d like to wish you all an absolutely wonderful joyous Christmas no matter where you are or who you’re with make the most of every moment.
