As I have closed down my Massage Business for the moment as I prepare for bilateral indirect inguinal and femoral hernia repair surgery.

I would like to thank my clients, I carry every conversation in my heart and every massage in my hands. I am creating a Diary Podcast|video of my journey pre and post surgery. It will be on YouTube and Spotify. I'll share YouTube link and others in the comments.

As I am about to send a book proposal to Hay House I would love it if it resonates with you to like, share and subscribe. You never know who you may be helping. Hernias in women are underdiagnosed and under recognised.

After 26 wonderful years as a Remedial Massage Therapist, I've made the difficult decision to close my massage business for the foreseeable future.

Over the past few months I've been diagnosed with a complex right-sided hernia condition that includes a congenital Canal of Nuck, a femoral hernia, bilateral inguinal hernias and a subclinical umbilical hernia. I am now awaiting a surgery date and need to focus on my health and recovery.

This has not been an easy decision. My clients have trusted me with their care for many years, and it has been a privilege to be part of your health journey. Thank you for your support, loyalty and friendship.

One thing I have learnt through this experience is that hernias are not always obvious. They don't always present as a visible lump, and they can mimic many other conditions. Some people experience groin pain, pelvic pain, lower abdominal pain, hip pain, inner thigh pain, back pain, pain that worsens with standing or walking, or symptoms that come and go. Others may notice a dragging or heavy sensation, discomfort during exercise, coughing or lifting, or bowel and bladder symptoms.

Because of this, some hernias—particularly femoral, occult and other less common hernias—can be difficult to diagnose and may require assessment by clinicians with experience in complex abdominal wall hernias. If you've been living with persistent groin or pelvic pain and still don't have answers, it may be worth discussing whether a hernia assessment is appropriate for your individual situation.

Although I'm stepping away from massage for now, my passion for health education and advocacy continues. I hope that by sharing my story I can help raise awareness of conditions that are sometimes overlooked.

Thank you again for allowing me to be part of your lives. I appreciate every one of you and look forward to sharing updates on my recovery when the time is right.

Melissa 💚

After my recent diagnosis of 5 Hernias including a congenital hernia. I am hoping people with pain that may mimic muscular skeletal pain go and try and get a thorough assessment. Not all scans are equal. Not all people reading a scan can pick out all issues.

A Quick Update, Health Awareness, and a Big Goal

Many of you know that last year I was diagnosed with B6 Toxicity after a long search for answers.

What you may not know is that this year an entirely different health issue was discovered completely by accident.

In February I joined a weight loss drug trial. During the trial, repeated white blood cells kept showing up in my urine. I was sent for a CT scan by my GP. The medication triggered a severe constipation event and an inguinal hernia was found.

What happened next surprised me.

The original CT scan reported one hernia. A general surgeon identified three. A specialist hernia surgeon then discovered five, including a rare congenital Canal of Nuck hernia and several occult (hidden) hernias with her specialised ultrasound.

As someone who works with the body every day, my jaw is still on the floor.

The biggest lesson? Hernias don't always present the way people expect. Hidden hernias can mimic musculoskeletal pain, nerve pain, hip pain, groin pain and abdominal pain, making them incredibly difficult to identify.

Looking back, I can't help but wonder how many of my symptoms over the years may have been connected.

Between the B6 Toxicity diagnosis, the hernia discoveries, and a few unexpected financial setbacks, my journey towards my new apartment has taken a few detours. But I'm still here, still working, and more determined than ever.

If you've been looking for a way to support my business and my advocacy work, you can:

Every booking, listen, review, share and recommendation helps.

Most of all, thank you for supporting me through one of the most unexpected chapters of my life. ❤️

Movement feels better when your muscles aren’t fighting you. 💚
When the body is tight and overloaded, even everyday things can feel harder — work, walking, gardening, gym sessions, sleep, or simply getting through the day.
Massage may help reduce muscle tension, support recovery, improve mobility, and give your nervous system a chance to slow down.
Sometimes your body doesn’t need to “push through.”
Sometimes it needs support.

Sometimes we wait until our body is screaming at us before we finally slow down.
Tight shoulders. Aching hips. Headaches. Exhaustion. Poor sleep. Stress sitting in every muscle.

Massage isn’t just about relaxation — it can also be part of looking after your body before things become harder to manage.

A little maintenance now can go a long way. 💚
